PLAYERS: Ryan Clady
TEAMS: Denver Broncos

John Elway and the Denver Broncos did the right thing using the franchise tag on Ryan Clady. There is no one on the Broncos team that is more important than Clady who protects Manning’s blind side. The last thing the Broncos wanted to see was Clady leave in free agency. They know the guy is vital in keeping Manning on his feet, if Manning were to take too many hits from his blind side, the Broncos could lose their 96 million dollar man. Clady is one of the best offensive line men in the NFL, Elway of all people know the importance in protecting the quarterback. He knows in Manning’s case it is even more important due to his multiple neck surgeries.  If Clady were to leave in the free agent market, the Broncos would have a huge hole in the offensive line that would leave Manning unprotected on his blind side. That wouldn’t be pretty and Elway knew that. Now the Broncos front office have to solidify their defensive secondary somehow. They either do it in the free agent market, through a trade or in the draft. Regardless how they do it they have to get it done.
