PLAYERS: Art Modell
TEAMS: Cleveland Browns

Fans-browns
In the wake of last week’s removal of Tony Grossi from the Plain Dealer’s Browns beat, some folks tried to scare up the boogeyman of Art Modell’s induction into the NFL Hall of Fame. Grossi had been the leading advocate on the Hall’s selection committee for the righteous cause of keeping Modell out, so the line was that the Art Modell induction ceremony that had heretofore only been the subject of our worst nightmares would soon become a reality with Grossi off the beat. This of course ignored the fact that the selection committee has to have a member from every NFL city, that Grossi would soon be replaced with someone else from Cleveland, as he was today with the PD’s Mary Kay Cabot, and that anyone from Cleveland who isn’t a complete raging sociopath would be just as successful as Grossi was in advocating for such a purely righteous cause. Of course, anyone who isn’t a complete raging sociopath understands that Modell’s induction wo...

Hillis Will be Back if He Wants to Be Back

According to a report by Mary Kay Cabot yesterday Peyton Hillis might have done enough for the Browns to reverse previous course and consider bringing the big bruiser back.  While I don’t doubt that with Hillis’ late-season surge after finally getting healthy enough to get on the field, I am not sure how much exactly he has proven in terms of dollar signs. In November...

Cleveland Browns Have Renewed Interest In Keeping Peyton Hillis

At first, the Cleveland Browns WANTED TO GET RID of their star running back Peyton Hillis, but according to a report the Browns now want to keep Hillis and re-sign him.The Cleveland Plain Dealer is citing a league source who says that over the last six weeks, Hillis has done enough for the Browns to show them that it would be in their BEST INTEREST to re-sgin the Madden 2012 cover...

Randy Lerner’s Secret Browns Tattoo and Decoding the Rest of His Interview with Cleveland Scene Magazine

As many of you have probably seen by now, our good friend Vince Grzegorek had a chance to speak with Browns owner Randy Lerner on several occasions over the course of the last few months, and yesterday published an account of these chats in a profile of Lerner at Cleveland Scene. Doing just dandy, worry not(, cake-eaters). Of course, the billionaire rarely speaks with Cleveland...

Randy Lerner, The Browns and the New Business as Usual

Mike Holmgren’s interactions with the media weren’t perfect this year.  He left everyone with some audio that he could regret some day if he was the type of guy to ever truly regret anything.  I don’t get that sense about him, but certain quotes about playoff tickets could haunt a less confident person.  Anyone who knows me well knows that I dwell on things I...

Whew. That exercise yesterday was difficult to say the least. I know for some of you it was just downright depressing. Well, today things get a lot easier. This is a walk in the park compared to yesterday. I figure the only really difficult question is who is the best punter and second place for pretty much every other category. So have fun. Enjoy today’s poll. Tomorrow is...

Today in 1981: Brian Sipe Tosses Two Picks in Pro Bowl

On February 2, 1981, the Associated Press reports of Cleveland Browns quarterback and NFL MVP Brian Sipe throwing the only touchdown recorded by the AFC during that very season’s Pro Bowl. Unfortunately for Sipe, playing in the annual recognition game a mere one month after the infamous Red Right 88 game, he lost a fumble and threw two interceptions. He would go on to complete...

NFL Rumors: Donovan McNabb Being Linked to Cleveland Browns

Veteran NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb has been in the news and some around the league feel that his next suitor could be the Cleveland Browns. WKNR 850AM mid-morning radio host Tony Rizzo tweeted live from Indianapolis that three separate sources have linked the former Philadelphia Eagle quarterback to three of his former superiors in general manager Tom Heckert, current Browns...

NFL Yearbook: 2011 Cleveland Browns

Residents of Cleveland may be surprised by the unseasonably warm weather that has settled over the city in recent days, as well as the mild winter as a whole. While meteorologists and scientists scramble to articulate the exact scientific reasons for this beautiful weather, many Cleveland Browns fans may be inclined to offer an alternative explanation: the storm clouds that hung...

Tony Grossi Removed from Hall of Fame Committee

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Mary Kay Cabot is replacing Tony Grossi on the Hall of Fame committee. The need to replace Grossi was due to the Plain dealer removing Grossi as a Browns Beat writer, due to his Twitter screw-up, one that blasted Randy Lerner--owner of the Cleveland Browns. Those unfamiliar with what will surely be called "The Tweet" in Browns...

Cleveland Browns should bring back Peyton Hillis in 2012, says Dennis Manoloff (SBTV)
