Last week the Miami Dolphins went away from the win and put all the weight on their rookie quarterback’s shoulders. Although Ryan Tannehill did enough to get the win, they cannot keep doing this. Joe Philbin realizes they will need to get a running back more involved.
“I think we’ve played better,” Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said. “I think that’s what the film tells you. There were some good efforts. There were some good plays. We obviously won a football game. We’re in a results-driven business. We all know that. I’m not naïve to that fact. However, the film tells you we’ve played better. We’ve got to play better.”
The better play has resulted in two straight narrow wins — against the Rams on Sunday, and against the Bengals in Week 5. Those came after Miami dropped consecutive games in overtime against the Jets and Cardinals in the previous two games.
There’s plenty of work left. Philbin has instructed his assistants to find several areas to improve before the team travels to play at the Jets on Oct. 28.
“I’m not caught up in our record overall — what I’m caught up in today is we have a lot of things to clean up on,” Philbin said. “Let’s make sure we do that. Let’s use this week to improve, to get healthy. Every week with this team is a new hurdle for us because now we have to go on the road and we have to win a division game. That’s going to be a huge challenge. That’s really all that matters right now.”
If the Dolphins want to beat the Jets they are going to have to run the ball, especially the way that Antonio Cromartie has been playing. He has been a true shut down corner since Revis left.

Report: Dolphins pursuing trade for Dwayne Bowe

The Miami Dolphins are actively pursuing a trade for Chiefs side receiver Dwayne Bowe, according to reports. The Dolphins receiving corps has been thin since the Dolphins traded away Brandon Marshall for two 3rd round picks back in March. The Dolphins have relied mainly on Davone Bess and Brian Hartline this season, but neither appears to be a true #1 receiver.Hartline has had...

Ryan Tannehill's Development Has Been Wonderfully Handled

I feel like I can say the following statement about Miami Dolphins rookie QB Ryan Tannehill with absolute confidence, and I doubt that I will get much resistance to it: Ryan Tannehill will be a... Ryan Tannehill is turning into a franchise quarterback in Miami

Earlier this year the Dolphins fans were outside the stadium and complaining about the ownership and GM, their team is tied for first in the division. I know it sounds crazy but the Dolphins have a great shot. Ryan Tannehill has brought the team back into playoff talks. Right now everyone in the AFC East has a fair shot, because they are all 3-3. This weekend Ryan Tannehill completed...

Dolphins defense showcases their sack dance

DAVIE, Fla. It might be a bye week for the Miami Dolphins. But Olivier Vernon has some work to do. Im going to go in the lab and come up with a sack dance, said the rookie defensive end from the University of Miami. Yes, this is important stuff in the NFL. If youre a guy who gets to the quarterback with any degree of regularity, you better have a dance to go with it. Vernon entered...

What happened to the Dolphins running game?

The Miami Dolphins are quickly changing their recipe for success, although it’s not by choice.  Earlier this year, Reggie Bush was leading the Dolphins to the #2 ranked rushing offense in the NFL. The Dolphins were grinding out games, running the football and stopping the run.  Now, the Dolphins rank #12 with 116 yards per game.  The low point came on Sunday when the Dolphins...

Dolphins' running game remains a major concern

The Miami Dolphins began the regular season as one of the NFL's most forceful rushing teams. Miami averaged 4.73 yards per carry in the season's first three games, and it scored six rushing touchdowns. Then Reggie Bush hurt his left knee, and the running game started sputtering. The Dolphins' ground game has been suffocated the last three weeks, culminating in Sunday...

Dolphins show knack for winning close games

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Calling for a fake punt with four minutes left is risky stuff from a rookie coach, especially one as even-keel as Joe Philbin. The Miami Dolphins coach concedes Las Vegas isn't for him. He does play the odds though, which paid off in Miami's 17-14 win Sunday over the St. Louis Rams. A successful fake punt was one of several key plays by the Dolphins down...

Reggie Bush & Girlfriend Lilit Avagyan cross paths with Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

Things could certainly start to get a little uncomfortable in Miami now that Kim and Kanye are looking for a place there and Reggie Bush playing for the Dolphins. Need an example of the awkwardness? Reggie and his pregnant girlfriend Lilit Avagyan were dining at Prime Italian, which happens to be directly across the street [...]
