Kansas City Chiefs @ Buffalo Bills

Kansas City Chiefs:  The Chiefs come off a thorough pasting at the hands of the full throttle passing game of the Atlanta Falcons; but wait, there’s hope!  The only team that allowed significantly more points last week was the Buffalo Bills, so if there’s any game that Matt Cassel and company can bounce back in, it would be against this defense.  Cassel actually had a fairly decent game, throwing for over 250 yards and a score.  He has a shot of bettering that line, since the Bills made Mark Sanchez look like an all-pro.

If Cassel is going to do more damage, it’ll be by getting the ball to his receiving playmakers Dwayne Bowe and the new Wes Welker-lite, Dexter McCluster.  Bowe very likely will get in the endzone here, and McCluster is looking like a must play in PPR leagues so make sure to scoop him up off the waiver wire if you can.

Jamaal Charles looked pretty good with his carries last week, but it does look like he won’t factor in much with the passing game, which is worrisome for those who were counting on his prowess as both an open field runner and a receiver out of the backfield.  Peyton Hillis looks like he’ll get his carries; he didn’t do much with them against the Falcons, but likely will get at least one shot at punching one in from up close.

Good Start: RB Jamaal Charles, WR Dwayne Bowe, WR Dexter McCluster (in PPR leagues)

Middle of the Road:  QB Matt Cassel, RB Peyton Hillis

Bad Start:  WR Jonathan Baldwin, WR Steve Breaston, TE Tony Moeaki, TE Kevin Boss

Buffalo:  The only good thing you can say about the Bills getting whipped by the Jets is that they suffered no major injuries.   Ok wait… they can’t even say that.  Their old stalwart at running back, Fred Jackson, injured his knee in the game against the Jets and is out likely at least one month.  Luckily, they did see that CJ Spiller can more than handle the load, as he ended up leading the NFL in rushing after week 1 with over 160 yards.  This should be another 100+ yard game for Spiller, and with his threat as a receiver he could go over 150 total yards again.

To add more injury to insult, the Bills also lost key slot receiver David Nelson for the year with a torn ACL; and it’s not like the Bills were brimming with talent outside of Stevie Johnson as it was.  Look for Johnson to still have a good game, but he’ll likely get real tired of all the double teams that he’ll likely see.  Ryan Fitzpatrick is a mid-level play at best, as he seems to be a turnover machine these days.  His favorite target in the red zone is big TE Scott Chandler, who only gets 2 or 3 catches a game, but a lot of the time one of those is a touchdown.

Good Start: RB CJ Spiller, WR Stevie Johnson

Middle of the Road:  QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, TE Scott Chandler

Bad Start:  WR Donald Jones
