Bill Parcells used to say, ‘you’re telling me a guy can’t play because he doesn’t have his hand in the dirt?’ DeMeco Ryans is tired of the talk that he can’t make the switch from a 4-3 end, to a 3-4 outside linebacker. Ryans feels it’s no big deal, matter of fact he played outside linebacker for the highly ranked Houston Texans defense before going to Philadelphia. As the Eagles switch to a 3-4 base defense, a lot of the defensive players left over from the flawed ‘Wide 9’ defense are trying to adjust to the new scheme. However, for Ryans it’s no big deal. "It's a big perception that DeMeco doesn't fit in the 3-4," Ryans said, via Zach Berman of Philly.com. "I played with the Texans in the 3-4 defense when we were the [No. 2] defense in the league. If I didn't fit in there, we wouldn't have been that highly ranked. It's all about being versatile." "It wasn't much difference," Ryans said of playing in the 3-4. "I think a lot of people try to make it different, but it's not as big a difference as people make it seem. You still have your run fits. You still have certain coverages. You can only run so many coverages as a defense. So those coverages don't change whether you're in a 4-3 or 3-4." "4-3, 3-4, whatever it is this coaching staff is looking for me to do, I'm willing to do it," Ryans said. "And I've done both. So I'm open to whatever it is."       var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

  • Im not sure where you got your info from, but DeMeco Ryans plays ILB in both 4-3 and 3-4. He has never played Defensive End before. Please know what you are talking about before you write an article.
