Bobby Bowden is an unlikely commenter on former Gators OC Charlie Weis leaving to become the head coach at Kansas. Bowden, who retired from Florida State two years ago, still follows college football and was stunned by Thursday’s news that Weis was headed for the Jayhawks. “You got to be kidding me,” Bowden said in Boca Raton at a publicity event for The Battle of Florida, an upcoming college all-star game. “He’s going to be the head coach? “That surprises me. I thought he was satisfied being an assistant in a school as glamorous as the University of Florida. That shocks me.” Weis left Florida after less than one year on the job. Kansas will introduce him today at 5 p.m.

Kansas Hires Charles Weis, HUH?

On Thursday, December 8th the Kansas Jayhawks announced the hiring of former Notre Dame Head Coach and current (or I guess former) Florida Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis. My first reaction was questioning if they hired him as a coordinator or as a Head Coach. I really didn't figure he would be a candidate to be a Head Coach any time soon. Will Muschamp didn't either...

Muschamp: No timetable to replace Weis

In a season of transition, it seems fitting that Florida will cap head coach Will Muschamps first year with Muschamp searching for a new offensive coordinator. Charlie Weis departure on Thursday to become head coach at Kansas was a surprise, but Muschamp doesnt expect there to be any lingering effects on the field by the time Florida faces Ohio State on Jan. 2 in the Gator Bowl...

Winner: Charlie Weis

With the news that Charlie Weis has returned to the Midwest to become the new head football coach at the University of Kansas, it’s time to revisit the Weis -Haley earthquake that shook the Kansas City Chiefs a year ago at this time.

Boynton Beach OL Jessamen Dunker remains firmly committed to Florida

The departure of OC Charlie Weis from Florida to Kansas did not seem to have any impact on one of the Gators’ prized offensive line targets. Jessamen Dunker, a senior at Boynton Beach HS, told PBGametime’s Matt Porter that he remains “100 percent” committed to Florida. Kansas Gets A Potential Coaching Steal In Charlie Weis

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 100 times: The college football coaching carousel is the equivalent of a daytime soap opera for men in their 20’s and 30’s. Come the last weekend of November, names, faces and jobs changes faster than those in Derek Jeter’s blackberry when he’s looking for a booty call. Still, no matter how closely you follow the coaching movements ...

“I’m not touching his coaches. That’s not the way friends do business.”

Translation from the original Weis:  “Florida had its worst season in over twenty years.  And Meyer’s already cherry picked his guys from the staff.  What head coach in his right mind would want the leftovers?” Although Coach Will says it’s all good because he’s already won the hired-away-coaches mythical national championship and the Gators will contend for it again...
