The NFL is working to improve the league’s safety regulations for players, but that campaign started a bit too late for some players. Safety Hamza Abdullah, who played seven seasons with the Broncos, Browns and Cardinals, spent about an hour attacking the NFL  for their mishandling of player safety in a long expletive-laden Twitter rant on Thursday. Abdullah, 30, ripped the NFL for not handling injured players correctly for many years, even noting a few of his own on-field experiences to prove his point. He explained that the league should be covering health costs and benefits for players, including mental examinations and psychiatric visits. At one point, Abdullah even referenced the NFL as slave masters and the players as the slaves. Check out just a few of Abdullah’s tweets below. Every player understood the risks of playing football, and we did it, and would do it over again!— Hamza Abdullah (@H...

  • I am so sick to death pf people saying Roger Goodell is ruining the league. Any one who says that or thinks that is a moron who should be punched in the mouth. The PLAYERS both current and former are ruining the league. It's football. It is a violent game. You've known that since you were little kids and decided to play Pop Warner. Every dr. in the world has known that concussions and particularly multiple concussions are a bad thing for long term health since concussions were first discovered. It is not rocket science. The players are contracted employees who CHOSE their profession and are supplied with safety equipment that meets the safety regulations that are known and regulated. The players don't have the right to sue an employer for injuries incurred during their career when that career is 100% their choice and voluntary. ALL players are independent contractors and therefore have no legal claim to sue their employer. They don;t even have a moral claim. You knew the risks involved with playing football. It's called "known-assumed risk". And if you don't like it I suggest you choose a different career path. When Goodell cracks down on the hits that the league repeatedly gets sued for the players ***** and moan. When he enforces tougher equipment safety such as the helmet redesign in recent years, and reinstituted knee, thigh and hip pads, the players ***** and moan. The players need to shut their damn mouths and either play, accept that you'll likely have brain trauma, and bad knees when you're 50 or just retire and quit football entirely. With the amount of money players make the NFL should not have to pay one penny towards the player's healthcare or retirement. They shouldn't be given a pension. If you blow all your money within 5 years of retiring , NO ONE CARES AND NEVER WILL! You make more money than 99% of us will ever see in our lives and if you can't survive ten lifetimes on that after you retire then NO ONE will have a shred of pity for you.
