Thoughts off the top of Bacardi’s Dome: The Packers are in serious trouble for this game. As witnessed first hand last January, the Packers will struggle to defend San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The Packers did nothing to upgrade their middle linebackers this offseason, and it’ll show against run option QBs like Kaep. Additionally, Green Bay’s best cornerback, Casey Heyward, is also out for a month, so that’ll mean juicier matchups for Anquan Boldin & Vernon Davis.   Offensively, the Packers will have a somewhat different look with the addition of rookie running back Eddie Lacy. The former ‘Bama star will add a new dimension to the offense, but still look for the Pack to pass 60% of their offensive plays. Defensively, the 49ers defensive line is THAT much older and lost considerable depth when super-sub Ricky Jean Francois left in the offseason. The 49ers secondary could also be in trouble with the loss of Dashon Goldson at free safety and the few injuries they’ve sustained to their cornerbacks. Will former Raider stud Nnamdi Asomugha rebound and shine in his new role as their nickel corner? This game should mirror last year’s playoff game: I expect a close game in the first half, but with the 49ers ultimately gaining control in the 3rd quarter to ride to a somewhat easy victory. Conferences can’t be won in the 1st week, but fear can be spread among the other 14 teams. After this weekend, San Francisco will be the heavy favorite to return to the Super Bowl. —– Game Projection PTS TO Green Bay Packers 24.4 1.4 San Francisco 49ers 28.1 1.8 Projected Leaders Passing: Aaron Rodgers (GNB) 296.7 yds Rushing: Colin Kaepernick (SFO) 81.4 yds Receiving: Randall Cobb (GNB) 94.1 yds Live Betting Predictions Point Spread AccuScore Probability 475 Green Bay Packers +4.5 53.6% 476 San Francisco 49ers -4.5 46.4% Over / Under AccuScore Probability OVR 49 56.9% UND 49 41.6% Money Line AccuScore Probability 475 Green Bay Packers +202 40.0% 476 San Francisco 49ers -226 59.9% TEAM WIN % AVG SCORE BIG WIN CLOSE WIN GNB 40.0% 24.4 18.4% 11.9% SFO 59.9% 28.1 33.4% 13.5% * Big Win: 10 or more pts; Close Win: 4 or less pts Green Bay Packers  PASSING RAT YDS TD INT  Aaron Rodgers 113.1 296.7 2.2 0.7  RUSHING ATT YDS AVG TD  Eddie Lacy 10.0 22.4 2.2 0.2  James Starks 5.6 14.5 2.6 0.1  Aaron Rodgers 3.0 13.0 4.4 0.1  RECEIVING REC YDS AVG TD  Randall Cobb 7.0 94.1 13.4 0.6  Jordy Nelson 4.7 75.9 16.1 0.6  Jermichael Finley 4.4 54.6 12.4 0.3  James Jones 2.5 35.9 14.4 0.4  DEFENSE SACK INT FUM TO  GNB 2.5 0.8 1.0 1.8 San Francisco 49ers  PASSING RAT YDS TD INT  Colin Kaepernick 95.5 218.5 1.6 0.7  RUSHING ATT YDS AVG TD  Colin Kaepernick 7.4 81.4 11.0 0.9  Frank Gore 13.9 58.5 4.1 0.5  Kendall Hunter 4.9 22.9 4.6 0.1  RECEIVING REC YDS AVG TD  Vernon Davis 4.6 65.7 14.3 0.6  Anquan Boldin 3.7 58.5 15.8 0.4  Kyle Williams 2.1 29.6 14.1 0.2  Frank Gore 2.4 20.4 8.5 0.1  DEFENSE SACK INT FUM TO  SFO 3.1 0.7 0.7 1.4

Clay Matthews Flying Clothesline of Colin Kaepernick Causes Mini-Brawl (Video)

Matthews should have been ejected for throwing a punch, but either the refs missed it or didn’t want to throw out a marquee player. Lot of pushing and shoving, but not much more. Not a smart play by Matthews as it kept the drive alive and 49ers would go on to score a TD.

Kaepernick and Boldin put on a clinic in win over Packers

First off, I would like to thank the Baltimore Ravens for giving the 49ers, Anquan Boldin. For those that didn’t get to watch the game, Boldin didn’t just have a good game. He had a phenomenol game. Boldin finished the game with 13 receptions for 208 yards and one tochdown. It wasn’t just the receiving yards, he came up big time when the team needed a key first down. Just the...
