Comcast SportsNet New England is usually a civilized and intelligent sports network for New England sports fans to enjoy some friendly banter on hot topics surrounding local teams. Such was not the case on Tuesday night during a live broadcast of the nightly panel-based talk show UNO’s Sports Tonight. Sports Tonight host Gary Tanguay, a longtime sports broadcasting fixture in New England, and guest Kirk Minihane, a writer and on-air personality for local radio station WEEI, got into a fiery shouting match while discussing whether or not Bill Belichick owes the Boston media an explanation for the Aaron Hernandez saga. Minihane said he didn’t believe Belichick owed anybody anything, asking if a manager at Subway would have to apologize if one of his employees killed someone. This analogy set Tanguay off, leading him to yell “you can’t even make that comparison!” That’s when things got pretty personal, as Tanguary went on to tell Minihane he was “full of crap” and that he was a moron and “as cold-blooded” as Belichick. He finished off by yelling “You don’t have a heart!” As the situation cooled down, CSNNE was about to cut to commercial right before Minihane threw in one last jab at Tanguay – “I hate you.” On a side note, I interned at CSNNE for 4 months last fall/winter and never saw ‘Guay raise his voice even once, so this definitely caught me by surprise. I don’t know much about Minihane, other than he doesn’t exactly have the best relationship with a few other personalities at the station besides Tanguay. This thing probably got a lot more personal than it should have. The post Gary Tanguay and Kirk Minihane erupt in screaming match on CSNNE appeared first on The Nosebleeds.

  • Tanguay is a phucking assshole, he is absolutely wrong to think that Belichek needs to apologize or owes anybody anything for the actions of Hernandez. There is NO WAY the Patriots could have known for sure that this guy was capable of doing the things he stands accused of. At the most all Belichek needs to say is that he feels terrible these crimes happened and were committed by a player that the Patriots signed. The only person responsible for these heinous acts is Hernandez and NOBODY ELSE!!!! Minihane showed real constraint by not knocking this jerk out for calling him a moron. The moron is Tanguay....PERIOD!!!!

Bill Belichick offers little on Hernandez in press conference

There were many folks around the NFL and football circles in general that wondered what Bill Belichick would say about Aaron Hernandez in today’s press conference. Some speculated that the timing of the event suggested that Belichick would give us more than he usually does at such events. Those people, as it turned out, weren’t entirely wrong, but Bill Belichick certainly didn’t...

Maybe with all of the excitement about Tim Tebow coming to town and everything — the story got lost...

Time To Be AccountaBILL

Has anyone else used that god-awful headline yet? Sometimes I’m envious of the sports-radio host mentality. It must just be so awesome to sit in judgment, move goalposts and criticize an outcome no matter which way it goes. I loved Felger yesterday attempting to make the point that since all the Belichick toadies said he shouldn’t talk, that they should now be pissed at him because...

Vince Wilfork Says Getting Back to Football ‘Can’t Come Any Sooner’ After Aaron Hernandez Situation

Vince Wilfork handled question after question about Aaron Hernandez like a true professional — not that anyone would expect anything different from the defensive tackle in his 10th season with the Patriots. When he said he felt sad and disappointed about the situation, you could feel that he truly meant those words. He stressed that Odin Lloyd‘s death and the investigation surrounding...

A Case By Case Basis: Kenbrell Thompkins

"We evaluate our players on a case by case basis" said Patriots head Coach Bill Belichick. Wideout Kenbrell Thompkins must've had a very thorough look through especially with his past that started in his hometown of Liberty City, Florida. Thompkins had spent more time on the street than he did at Northwestern High which is one of the elite Florida High School football...
