Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News believes that the Jets rookie QB Geno Smith will win the team’s starting quarterback job. Mehta adds that as long as the former West Virginia product remains “sharp” during his preseason showings, the job is his. During the team’s annual Green and White scrimmage, Smith outshined Mark Sanchez, who was booed off the field. While Smith did have lapses in which he struggled and proved he still needed to work on some areas, head coach Rex Ryan would praise Smith’s “absolutely tremendous” play. Smith is destined to be the Jets starting quarterback this season.  As of now Geno Smith’s real competition is his own self.   The post Geno Smith The Favorite To Win Jets Starting QB Job? appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.

  • He should win it, all he has to do is beat out a horrible QB in Sanchez. Sanchez has been given more than a fair chance to prove he can get it done and he has failed miserably...unless you count the comic relief he provides.

New York Jets Training Camp Battles: Mark Sanchez vs. Geno Smith

The New York Jets opened up training camp earlier this week with a serious competition between Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith for the starting quarterback job. Jets' Sanchez solid; Smith struggles

Mark Sanchez tossed a pass that zipped through the end zone, over a fence and onto the roof of a golf cart parked on the other side. And, it was a good -- and smart -- play.
