According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants know they need to address the tight end position once the new league year begins on Tuesday.  They want to re-sign Martellus Bennett, but don’t plan on getting into a bidding war to keep him. They want Martellus Bennett back, but they won’t get into a bidding war (likely with Tampa Bay). And if he goes, it seems unlikely they’d turn the job over to Bear Pascoe and second-year pro Adrien Robinson. They will check out free-agent replacements, like Brandon Myers (Oakland) and Anthony Fasano (Miami). Also, one NFL source told me that tight ends coach Mike Pope has his eye on an under-the-radar tight end in the draft. I have an idea who it is, but I don’t know for sure yet (and the source wouldn’t tell me). Bennett had a very good season in 2012, but the Giants can’t afford to over pay for his services.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = ''+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Report: Giants hope to re-sign Martellus Bennett

According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants are hoping to re-sign both Kevin Boothe and Martellus Bennett before free agency officially opens next Tuesday. According to a team source, they also hope to re-sign Boothe and Bennett before the market opens, though deals do not appear imminent. How far the Giants can go to re-sign them (or replace them) depends...

New York Giants 2013 NFL Mock Draft

The New York Giants not only have to recover from missing the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl in 2012, but the Super Bowl host curse will rear its head again in 2013. However, I don’t believe in curses, and the 2013 draft offers sky-high potential to reform this back into a contender this season. The passing game will improve with Hakeem Nicks healthy again, and the defense...

Report: NFL teams have “a ton of interest” in Victor Cruz

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, there’s already a ton of interest in New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz as a restricted free agent and the new league year hasn’t even started yet. The Giants will likely give Cruz a first round tender, but that may not keep a team from signing him.  The New York Giants slot receiver almost certainly will receive a first...

Giants, Lawrence Tynes “nowhere close” to a new contract

According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the New York Giants and kicker Lawrence Tynes aren’t close to hammering out a contract extension. It sounds like Tynes will have a chance to test out the free agent market. Tynes had a very good season in 2012.  He converted 84 percent of his field goals.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document...

Cornerback Cory Webster takes a big pay cut to stay in New York

According to Kimberly Jones of NFL Network, cornerback Cory Webster restructured his contract taking a pay cut to stay with the New York Giants. Webster's sub-par play in 2012 and his $7 million salary for 2013 was too rich for the Giants taste, and the fact the Giants are tight on salary-cap space.  Webster had his salary reduced to $4 million in the final year of his contract...

Giants keep ticket prices the same for 4th year

The New York Giants are keeping their prices the same for season ticket holders for the fourth straight year. Parking, however, will increase $5 per game. The Giants, who missed the playoffs last season after winning the Super Bowl the previous season, informed fans of the ticket prices and parking in an email Friday. The price for parking will be $30. Season ticket holders were...
