Greg Jennings criticizes Aaron Rodgers for 'mental errors' comments: 'You can't do this'

Greg Jennings and Aaron Rodgers have a complicated relationship. Well, if you were to believe Jennings, there is no relationship to speak of anymore.

Still, that doesn't take away from the fact that both players won a Super Bowl together playing for the Green Bay Packers. The potential animosity between the two players also doesn't disqualify Jennings from commenting on Rodgers now that he's a "talking head" covering the NFL. That's not something he's shied away from doing in the past, so is it any surprise that he has something to say about his former quarterback now that the Packers are 3-4 and Rodgers looks far from the back-to-back NFL MVP he was for the past two seasons?

He hasn't always been right, but to be fair to Jennings, in this instance he is.

Jennings was responding to Rodgers' comments on his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. Things aren't going great in Green Bay, and Rodgers hasn't played well himself. Still, rather than point the finger at himself or try to bring the team together to fight to make something of this season, it seems as if the four-time MVP is frustrated enough with his teammates to start calling them out.

"We had so many mental errors and mistakes," Rodgers told McAfee and company (h/t NFL.com's Kevin Patra). "It's not the kind of football we're used to playing over the years. There have definitely been seasons where we average four or five, six, maybe seven at the most, kind of mental errors or missed assignments per week. Some weeks you have like four, two sometimes. This season there's a lot more of that every single week. It's double digits every single week. Even on the game, we had like 50 plays or something — there wasn't a ton of plays, they had 37 minutes time of possession — a lot of mistakes."

The future Hall of Fame quarterback then went in deeper on his teammates, who he clearly feels aren't mentally focused during the games.

"Guys who are making too many mistakes shouldn't be playing, you know. Gotta start cutting some reps, and maybe guys who aren't playing, give them a chance," he said.

That's a bombshell of a quote, and it's going to be interesting to see how Rodgers' teammates — especially the younger ones — react.

His former teammate, Jennings, seems to think they won't react well. At the very least, Jennings seems to think that this is not what a quarterback should be saying when his team's back is against the wall.

Things are starting to get very interesting in Green Bay. This is a team that has the talent to make a run and get back into the swing of things, but will the Packers' locker room implode before they have a chance to turn it around?

We'll have to wait and see, but Rodgers sure doesn't seem to be helping the matter.
