Green Bay is in a tizzy right about now. Former Packers wide out Greg Jennings just pulled a semi Brett Favre. Jennings will be playing for the Packers NFC rival Minnesota Vikings. He had played seven years with Green Bay is moving to don the colors of purple and yellow. Greg has been sidelined with a few injuries that kept him on the sidelines for the Packers and the Vikings hope he doesn’t continue trend. Jennings is looking to fill Percy Harvin’s role as the prime wide receiver since Harvin left to play for the Seahawks. Greg goes from playing with Aaron Rodgers to Christian Ponder. The Vikings signed a five year deal with Jennings that is worth $47.5 million. Of the $47.5 million Jennings will have $18 million guaranteed. Jennings money could bump up if he goes to the Pro Bowl which adds some incentive for Greg to stay healthy. When Jennings was asked if he could still be an explosive receiver as he was in the past he said, “I can definitely still do it. I can definitely still make plays and be as exciting as I was in my earlier years.” Besides Brett Favre joining the Vikings after play most of his Hall of Fame career in Green Bay other players like Ryan Longwell and Darren Sharper went from playing in Green Bay to Minnesota. “I’m not the first Packers player to jump on this side,” Jennings told reporters with a smile on becoming a Viking. Vikings general manager Rick Spielman wanted to get Jennings to help out his young quarterback.  Rick commented, “I’m a very strong believer in building through the draft. But every once in a while something unique will come about that you just want to make sure that you can get accomplished to get that player here.” Greg Jennings opened up about his new teammates Christian Ponder and Adrian Peterson. On Ponder, Jennings said, “I had to watch Christian. I had to see what I was (getting) myself into. Very athletic quarterback, obviously his upside, his future is bright. I saw a young guy that was maturing.” On Peterson, Greg told reporters, “”You see a guy like ‘All Day’ sitting in that backfield and you see the cluster of guys that are gathered in that box for him, it’s going to be some special things taking place.” Ponder returned the favor when he gave his thoughts on Jennings. He said, “He’s as great player. He’s been doing great things in Green Bay, and he’d bring leadership to that position. Kind of a dynamic guy you can put in the slot and outside. I’ve always admired his work in Green Bay, and he seems like a great guy to have on a team.” For Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier is very happy to have another offensive threat. Frazier said, “We’re really excited about the fact that he brings high character. He’s a tremendous athlete. We all know that. But what he’ll bring to our locker room, the energy that he’ll bring to what we do at practice along with his leadership, those were all qualities we were looking for when we talked with Greg.” With all of these deals that have All-Pro players going to new teams and even rivals the NFL season can’t get here fast enough.
