DeSimone of the C and C Football Factory show on BlogTalk Radio, which OJT's Brian Johnson just guested on, gives his thoughts on Tebow as a Pat.  New York Jets’ owner Woody Johnson once said when asked about the acquisition of QB Tim Tebow, “…you can never get enough Tebow!”  We soon watched in horror as the Tim Tebow saga unfolded the way it did as a member of our beloved Gang Green. Tebow’s minimal impact and both Rex Ryan’s and Tony Sparano’s incompetence on how to use the former Florida QB in an offensive system taylor-made for a QB with Tebow’s skills, left many Jet fans scratching their heads as to why the Jets even acquired him in the first place. My first thought would be, to bring a positive, winning attitude to a Jets’ locker room that had been fractured amongst “unnamed” sources that spoke of dissension and angst about the team’s direction and overall on-the-field performance (or lack thereof). When John Idzik was hired as the new GM, there was a new mantra within the Jets’ organization which consisted of a new direction from new leadership for a flailing franchise. As a result Tebow, along with others were jettisoned to kick-start the team’s new direction. Within moments, the speculation behind the next landing spot for Tebow began to pick up steam with Jacksonville, New England, and Chicago being the front-runners mentioned. Various voices from all of those organizations, including Bill Belichick’s openly rash criticism of Tebow, quickly quieted rumors, fueling even more speculation that his career in the NFL could have very well ended in New York. It seemed to everyone that Tebow Time may very well be over—until word broke that Tebow signed with the New England Patriots on Tuesday for practically nothing guaranteed. The move re-unites Tebow with OC Josh McDaniels who is responsible for drafting Tebow in the first round when he was the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos. Talk about lurking in the weeds! This move could prove as the steal of the offseason if Belichick can get Tebow to change positions as he’s done with other players in the past. Belichick loves guys like Tebow, even though he’d never admit to it. He takes guys with ability and puts them in a system that fits his needs out of them. He’s also proven that he can take castoffs from other teams and get them to play at a higher level within his system. If Tebow should make this 53 man roster in New England, we could see him line up as a tight end with Gronkowski out, or line up as a Wide Receiver to create matchup issues for defenses. He could even line up on defense as a safety. The point is that Belichick is one man who could use Tebow in ways that the Jets could have and should have used him in last year’s campaign. So, just when we thought ‘Tebow Time’ was over in the AFC, it begins again. But this time, he’s wearing the colors of the enemy. Let’s see if Mr. Johnson still feels the same way about Tim if and when he’s ‘Tebowing’ in the endzone for the Patriots….
