Heading into Sunday’s season opener against the Miami Dolphins, the Houston Texans are largely healthy and ready to put their best 11 on the field. The Texans battled some injuries in the preseason, but rest and precaution has everybody looking primed to contribute against the Phins.

Defensively, DE J.J. Watt (elbow), NT Shaun Cody (ankle), and ILB Brian Cushing (ribs, illness) all missed significant time during the preseason, but as of Thursday all were practicing and set to start Sunday. Backup S Shiloh Keo (neck) also practiced and appears ready for the Dolphins.

Offensively, WR Andre Johnson (groin) was the big name guy that missed time during the preseason, but has been practicing for week and appears to be at 100%.

The Texans did have a scare Thursday when both RB Arian Foster (knee) and OLB Brooks Reed (hip) left practice early in what’s being called precautionary moves by head coach Gary Kubiak. All indications are that both Foster and Reed will be fine and play against the Dolphins, but should there be any issues the Texans shouldn’t have any problems at least filling in for Foster with RBs Ben Tate and Justin Forsett. Should Reed be unable to go, first-round selection Whitney Mercilus would be thrust into the starting lineup because Reed’s usual backup, Bryan Braman, is still out with a hamstring injury.

For the Dolphins, they’re in a similar situation as the Texans with numerous starters and key reserves banged up, but apparently set to play on Sunday. Those include WR Brian Hartline (calf), LT Jake Long (knee), RG John Jerry (ankle), DE Derrick Shelby (shoulder), DT Tony McDaniel (knee), OLB Koa Misi (back), and OLB Jason Trusnik (ankle).
