PLAYERS: Brian Cushing
TEAMS: Houston Texans
Going into the game on all last week the Houston Texans were preparing for a Bears defense that has been forcing turnovers at a record pace and scoring on a lot of the turnovers as well. After Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak had his players punching at the ball after plays at practice all week simulating what Bears CB Charles Tillman does, and forcing his players to basically play past the with their ball protection the Texans defense showed that they can be a defense that casues turnovers as well. In wet, rainy, and just plain nasty game the Texans beat the Bears at their own game on the road causing turnover after turnover not allowing the Bears to get it going on offense all night long on Sunday Night at Soldier Field. Houston Texans safety Daniel Manning making a big hit that causes a turnover against his former team on Sunday night at Soldier Field. On the first drive Bears QB Jay Cutler found TE Kellen Davis over the middle of the field when former Bear and Houston Texans safety Daniel Manning came up and put the type of hit he has made his name off of in this league over the years. He forced the fumble on that play that was recovered by teammate Bradie James. Manning who played on the Bears for 5 years before leaving for a better contract and fresh start in Houston knew that this game would be like this. He gave a speech to the team before this game and told his teammates this game would be like this. Wet, cold, and a game that would be won by less than 10 points in the end. The Texans defense as a whole were all really good all night long. ILB Tim Dobbins who’s been getting more time on the field with Brian Cushing injured had a questionable hit on Bears QB Jay Cutler that put him out of the game late in the 2nd quarter. The lone bright spot for the Bears was WR Brandon Marshall, and his 8 catches 107 yards is okay considering the Texans defensive unit never gave up a TD all night long in a hostile environment playing in the elements outside. Only 249 yards and 8 first downs during the game and forced the Bears into 4 turnovers on Sunday night 2 off of fumbles and 2 off of interceptions by Houston Texans CB Kareem Jackson and Daniel Manning who forced 2 total turnovers against his ex team which preached turnovers his whole career before letting him walk to Houston last season. Houston Texans safeties Glover Quin and Danieal Manning during the first half an NFL football game in Chicago, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. The Offense once again leaned heavily on the running attack in Chicago this weekend and in doing so gave the ball to RB Arian Foster a good amount this game. Foster had another great game going over 25 carries and 100 yards against a defense that’s normally stingy and is known for stopping the run regularly. Foster, whom Bears MLB called plain and simple a “bad ass” after the game on Sunday had his teams only TD off a short completion from Matt Schaub at the goal line in the game adding to his total of 12 for the season. This was Foster’s 5th game with over 100 yards, and maybe his biggest performance of the year. Going into the stretch Foster will have to carry the load as the Houston Texans wait on RB Ben Tate to get healthy and back on the field to give him some rest. QB Matt Schaub didn’t look sharp throwing in the bad conditions he threw 2 INT’s and a TD in this game. He only threw for 96 yards on 14 completions and finished with a average of under 4 yards an attempt. Schaub who’s been sharp all year did manage to lead the Texans on a long TD drive and cap it with a pass to RB Arian Foster to cap it during this game as well. Houston Texans RB Arian Foster catching a TD in the 13-6 win over the Bears on Sunday night.

New Breed of Texans Making Their Mark

The Houston Texans are one of the few teams that can go into their second string players, and not fall off in overall team production. Majority of analyst realized that the Texans had a solid roster heading into the 2012, and after a seeing how the team responded in 2011 with their rash of injuries, the team was set for bigger growth this season. The injuries of the 2011 season was...

Danieal Manning upset at Bears fans' reaction for shaking hands with Brian Urlacher after Jay Cutler interception

Texans defensive back Danieal Manning is shocked at Chicago fans for booing him for doing his job and intercepting a Jay Cutler pass. Sometimes you just can't win, it's not personal, it's Chicago. Danieal Manning was selected by the Chicago Bears with the 42nd pick in the 2006 NFL Draft from Abilene Christian University. In 2008, Manning led the league in kickoff return...

Breaking News: Shawn Loiseau, ILB from Merrimack has been signed to Colts PS

Loiseau is an interesting prospect from small-school Merrimack in the little-known Division II Northeast Ten conference. He was ignored by bigger schools in high school, but displayed NFL ability throughout his time at Merrimack. He is a productive tackler and a natural at the position who can read lines and make quick plays on the ball. Loiseau is a very good tackler who plays instinctively...

Brett Hartmann, a former punter with the Houston Texans, is suing the owners of Houston's Reliant Stadium for negligence regarding an injury he suffered to his non-kicking leg late last season, his lawyer announced Thursday. The 6-foot-2 Hartmann signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in July 2011. He played in the first 12 games last season before tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament and fracturing a...

Houston Texans: Week 11 NFL Power Rankings (#1)

Last week: 2 (+1) Record: 8-1 I guess the Texans move into the #1 spot at Chicago’s expense with their win over them, but you have to wonder what the outcome would have been had Cutler not gotten hurt (he threw an interception on a promising drive immediately after suffering that concussion). It’s a shame that Cutler had to get hurt in what seemed like it would be the most revealing...

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Bears Edition

In what could be considered the worst playing conditions, the Houston Texans invaded Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears. The weather was horrible for playing an outdoor game, cold temperatures, swirling wind and rain. With the weather going to be a factor, NFL analyst said that this would work in the Bears’ favor. Well not so fast my friend, the Texans came out and put...

Cutler suffered a concussion after the helmet-to-helmet hit and didn't return after halftime. Dobbins was penalized for unnecessary roughness. On the play, Cutler was scrambling and was called for an illegal forward pass when...

Jaguars-Texans Preview

Tied for the NFL's best record, the Houston Texans continue to inch closer to a second straight AFC South crown. A matchup against the division's worst team seems unlikely to slow them down. The Texans aim for a fifth consecutive victory over the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars, who try to avoid matching their longest losing streak in franchise history Sunday. Houston (8...

Digging Deep: Chicago Edition

The Texans moved to 8-1, tying the Atlanta Falcons for the best record in the NFL, with their sloppy 13-6 win over the previously 7-1 Chicago Bears. While it was not a pretty game by any means, the Texans went into Chicago and beat the Bears outdoors in bad conditions. The statistics for this game may not look very impressive, but this game was more about toughness and making big...
