This was tweeted out by Panthers beat writer Joe Person in reference to the trick play the Carolina Panthers did yesterday. Turns out I was right all along, and they really did get it from the movie Little Giants. What an epic movie by the way. To bad they don't have Ice Box on their defense.
BEST OF MAXIM
As the Panthers were preparing to head back out to the field for the second half Sunday at Reliant Stadium in Houston, coach Ron Rivera started to give a speech to try to prevent another third-quarter lull -- a recurring problem for his first Panthers' team.
But Cam Newton beat him to it.
“I was going to say a few words but Cam stepped up and started to say a few things and...
Recently, I was running through the Panthers defensive line statistics on Football Outsiders, a website I highly recommend for every football fan who is tired of traditional statistics, and I decided to scroll down and look at the Panthers stats against the run. Although the linebackers are all very good and are stout against the run, especially Dan Connor, the Panthers really struggle...
Coach Ron Rivera was pleased his team finally figured out how to close out a game against a good team.
With a 21-13 lead in the fourth quarter, the Panthers went 80 yards on seven plays to give themselves a 15-point cushion, answering a Houston touchdown. They did it by mixing run and pass, but capped it off with a 24-yard touchdown run by DeAngelo Williams.
"We made plays...
Over the weekend, the Carolina Panthers pulled off the old "Fumblerooski" play that lead to a touchdown run by Richie Brockel against the Houston Texans:

Cam Newton threw two touchdown passes, DeAngelo Williams ran for a score and the Carolina Panthers ended Houston's seven-game winning streak with a 28-13 win over the Texans on Sunday.
Carolina Panthers – 28, Houston Texans – 13
In a week full of upsets, this was probably one of the least shocking. The Panthers have been close to breaking through with wins, giving up late leads or having rallies fall just short. This week, Cam Newton (204 total yards, 2 TDs) led the Panthers to a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish, as the Panthers were able to get both...
The fumblerooski has been banned in the NFL for nearly 50 years. So why was a similar, bizarre play in Sunday's Carolina Panthers game allowed to stand?
Watch as quarterback Cam Newton takes a snap out of a shotgun and sneakily hands the ball to fullback Richie Brockel. Newton fakes right and is followed by the Houston Texans defense, allowing Brockel to run into the end zone...
Cam Newton threw two touchdown passes, DeAngelo Williams ran for a score and the Carolina Panthers ended Houston’s seven-game winning streak with a 28-13 win over the Texans on Sunday.
Newton completed 13 of 23 passes for 149 yards, outplaying opposing rookie quarterback T.J. Yates.
The Panthers (5-9) built a 21-0 halftime lead, then ended Houston’s second-half rally when...
B+ QUARTERBACK: Cam Newton didn't have spectacular numbers. His 149 passing yards were a season low.
