Jet Ski Adventures What may sound like a reality show in the making actually occurred this past weekend, as standout cornerback Richard Sherman decided to head over to the VMAC (Virginia Masoc Athletic Center) to check out how this years’ rookie camp was progressing. Now I know reality shows may be on their way out (or so I hope), but can’t you imagine the hilarity that would ensue if Sherman decided to cruise around on his jet ski the entire summer while exploring the city of Seattle/Lake Washington? Anyways, aside from that aside, this story is pretty funny in itself. Sherman has become a staple in Seattle. (Photo: Seahawks.com) Sherman has become a force for the Seahawks, earning All-Pro First Team honors for his effort at cornerback in 2012. Though he had to appeal a four-game suspension during the course of the year, the self-titled ‘Optimus Prime’ started all 16 games he appeared in during his sophomore sesaon, racking up 64 tackles while defending 24 passes, intercepting the ball eight times, taking an INT back to the house for a TD, and forcing three fumbles. Yeah, you could say he did pretty well in 2012. Not only does he help to individually contribute to the Hawks, Sherman is also part of the Legion of Boom, the most feared secondary unit in the NFL. You can read more about it by clicking here. A bigger cornerback at 6’3″, 195 lbs., the Stanford graduate has become infamous and well-known for his antics on-and-off the field. One of those players who you are glad is on your team and not another, Sherman gets inside the heads of opposing players with the way he conducts himself day-in and day-out. His latest jet ski adventure is yet another chapter in the wild world of Sherman.  And as most stories start these days, it all began on twitter: Gonna ride my Jet Ski up to watch the rookies from the Lake …. — Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) May 10, 2013 That tweet was followed by these two, confirming that Sherman had indeed made his way out to rookie camp. Watching the rooks from the Lake twitter.com/RSherman_25/st… — Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) May 10, 2013 Found some friends on the water twitter.com/RSherman_25/st… — Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) May 10, 2013 Now this story isn’t too much more than its face value, but it is great to see a standout athlete like Sherman taking the time, albeit likely jokingly, to have his future teammates on his mind, with the most important likely being Tharold Simon.  Drafted by the Seahawks in 2013, Simon may not be the most important draft pick of all, but will be an important pick to Sherman, who could be used to help bring the rookie into the NFL. Another big and physical corner at 6’2″, 202 lbs., I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sherman and Simon quickly develop a mentor-apprentice relationship that helps Simon to really develop into a big force at the next level. As mentioned earlier, this is not a huge story that will shatter the NFL and play a huge role in next year. However, it does really testify to how invested all of Seattle’s players are in the Seahawks. Pete Carroll has put out a message that the players are really believing in, and it’s great to see Sherman taking the time to jet ski over to rookie camp to give us Seattle fans something to laugh about once again.
