According to Sean Jenkins of the Chicago Sun Times, Marc Trestman will be looking to add some weapons around Jay Cutler, and a versatile tight end that can line up inline or split out is one option he’s exploring. Tennessee’s Jared Cook will be a free agent March 12, and his athletic ability is a component that many teams are going to want. With the increasing role of the multiple tight ends that can line up almost anywhere, Cook is one of the best. He fought with Tennessee because he felt he was used more as a wide receiver and they wanted to franchise him as a tight end. However, Tennessee’s loss could be the Bears gain as they continue their search for playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Jenkins writes: ‘A handful of clubs have a need for a pass-catching tight end, and Cook is arguably the most desirable, given his combination of size (6 foot 5, 246 pounds), speed (4.49 in the 40-yard dash), age (25) and production. In 29 games over the last two seasons, Cook has 93 catches for 1,282 yards and seven touchdowns. New Bears offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer arrives after being a key part of an offense that highlighted a pass-catching tight end. Jimmy Graham was a Pro Bowl selection after catching 99 passes for 1,310 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2011. Graham is two inches taller than Cook, but he was timed with a slower 40 (4.53).’   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
