John Elway wanted Peyton Manning bad enough to get rid of Tim Tebow, and the results are the same. A loss in the divisional round for the 2nd straight year. In actuality, in the past two years, Tebow has a better playoff record that Manning. Elway didn't like the option offense that is now taking over the NFL, and his old school ways could have the Broncos in long term trouble. Tebow picked up a team that was 1-4, and marched them to the playoffs, and a 2011 first round upset win the Pittsburgh Steelers. Manning jumped in and eveybody forgot about Tebow, but the win now mentality just went kaboom with Manning, winning later is yet to be seen. For all the money spent on Manning, when the game was on the line, he threw the season ending interception. Broncos fans this morning may or may not be happy with all those fantastic statisics, the home field advantage, and having Manning getting them to the same point as in 2011. However, that wasn't the plan, and if someone says different, they are lying. It's correct the old Manning is back, but so is his inability to win in the clutch. Denver's window ofr winning a championship is on the clock now, how long will Manning stick around? The bigger question is can Manning really take Denver all the way? Mike McCoy had Tebow in a system that is being run in Washington with Robert Griffin III, or Seattle's Russell Wilson, not to mention San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick. Suddenly, Manning looks archaic in the fast moving NFL, and if it wasn't for Trindon Holliday's two special teams touchdowns, the Broncos might have lost much earlier than overtime. Tebow must be smiling somewhere, knowing that Elway who traded Tebow for a bag of peanuts, didn't get any further with Manning. The league is changing and the Broncos were at the front of the movement, now they hang their hopes on Manning, and one could see Saturday, he's far from a sure bet, especially in the postseason. Manning has 40 million reasons to keep playing, but his body has a lot of mileage, and the sledding only gets tougher with a smaller window with number 18. However, Elway let go a young quarterback for an aging one, when Manning retires, Elway better have a good plan. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
