San Diego Chargers Antonio Gates was one of the greatest tight ends in the franchise’s history and definitely in the NFL, but that is the biggest problem with Gates. Gates use to be the greatest tight end in the NFL and now as the Chargers enter the 10’s Gates’ production is beginning to drop.

The main issue for Gates entering the 10’s is injuries with Gates missing 9 games over the past 2 seasons in 2010-11. Gates also was inactive for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans with a ribs injury and unfortunately, Dante Rosario took full potential of that opportunity to catch 3 touchdown passes from Philip Rivers.

That type of production out of Rosario, spells out, the Chargers have options and Gates will have to prove that he still has the gift of grab.… Read more

Mathews, Gates active for Chargers vs Falcons

Ryan Mathews was set to make his season debut for San Diego, and tight end Antonio Gates also was active for the Chargers against the Atlanta Falcons in a matchup of undefeated teams. Mathews hasn't played since breaking his collarbone on his first carry in the exhibition opener on Aug. 9. Gates was inactive last week after hurting his ribs in the opener at Oakland. Inactive...

San Diego Chargers: Norv Turner's "How to Win Football Games"

Norv Turner spoke yesterday about his San Diego Chargers losing to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday by a score of 27-3.“We’ve got to take care of the ball,” Turner said. “We can’t turn the ball over.  If we turn the football over then we’re not going to beat a team like Atlanta." I notice that when NFL head coaches discuss ways for the team to improve, the first...

Turner, Chargers back on the hot seat after loss

SAN DIEGO, CA Well, at least there was some good news for the San Diego Chargers and their local fans Sunday afternoon: Because the game wasn't a sellout it was blacked-out in the city and surrounding TV markets. Therefore, Charger loyalists were spared from watching the debacle that took place at Qualcomm Stadium. The Atlanta Falcons jumped out to a 20-0 first half lead and...

Michael Turner was rejuvenated by the Falcons trip to San Diego

Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner at least for one game appears to be rejuvenated Turner busted out 80 yards and a touchdown against his former team the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Turner’s lack of recent breakout games and his recent DUI have taken center stage when his name is mentioned lately. According to Turner the team’s road trip to his old stomping grounds...

Atlanta Falcons vs. San Diego Chargers: Five Things We Learned

Here are the five things that we learned from watching the Falcons demolish the Chargers in San Diego in this Week 3 match-up of two potential playoff teams.1.  Tony Gonzalez can still ball with the best of them.  He might be 36, and lead a vegan life style, but on Sunday Tony Gonzalez was as reassuring to Falcons' Quarterback Matt Ryan as a warm Meatloaf straight from the...

Week 3 NFL Preview: Atlanta Falcons at San Diego Chargers

Both of these teams are a pleasant surprise through the first two weeks of 2012. The Falcons have looked liked the team everyone thought they could be in 2011 while you could easily say the same about the Chargers. Oh well. Better late than never I suppose. While both teams come into Week 3 with undefeated 2-0 marks, someone is going to leave San Diego with a blemish on their record...

Falcons 27, Chargers 3

SAN DIEGO -- Atlanta made itself home again in San Diego and extended its perfect mark there. Quarterback Matt Ryan passed for three touchdowns and safety Thomas DeCoud led a strong defensive effort as the Falcons manhandled the Chargers in a 27-3 victory on Sunday. The win was Atlanta's sixth consecutive in San Diego and its eighth victory in nine meeting with the Chargers...

Chargers expect to have Ryan Mathews and Antonio Gates back this week, not Jared Gaither

Normally slow starters, the Chargers are 2-0 this season and doing it in a year when a lot of people wrote them off after 2 straight seasons without the postseason and with the team possessing many holes on paper. Philip Rivers might be the MVP of the league for the first 2 games, leading this team to a 2-0 record despite not having much help. He’s completed 73.8% of his passes...
