Isaac Redman was an undrafted free agent out of Bowie State University when the Pittsburgh Steelers took a flyer on him in 2009. Redman finished his first preseason with 37 carries for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2009. Redman was waived during final cuts on September 4, 2009 and re-signed to the practice squad. Mike Tomlin announced that Redman would be the team's primary goal-line back in 2010. Redman got his chance to start in week 5 during the 2011 NFL campaign against the Tennessee Titans. Redman has good ability, but with Rashard Mendenhall the primary back, Redman has had to take a back seat. Mendenhall suffered a serious knee injury in 2011, and after the injury Redman took center stage. He finished with 479 yards, and 3 touchdowns. However, the emergence of Jonathan Dwyer in 2012 forced Redman to spilt carries. Furthermore, Mendenhall came back from his knee injury to create a log jam at the running back position in 2012. Redman spoke to 93.7 the Fan in Pittsburgh to talk about his role in the Pittsburgh running game. “We’re in a good situation. We’re a little banged up but it’s like every week at least one of us is healthy to go and it’s good to have three guys on your team that you can count on and that are capable of being a starting running back.” On if he should be the starting back: “That’s the coaches decision. I’m not going to say who should be the starting running back or not, that’s up to Coach Tomlin and the rest of the coaches on who they feel should be in there. Coach Tomlin said he is going to go with the hot hand and I don’t know what he means by that but if that means he’s going to go with who’s hot or you know who’s performing at the time then so be it. If he calls my number then I’m going to be prepared and that’s all I can really worry about.”   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

Steelers Aren’t Looking Past Chiefs But I Am

As a former player and coach in the game of football, I understand better than most that you don’t ever get caught looking ahead. Quite often, when a rivalry game was on the horizon, it would not be a bit surprising to see the fan base and media start looking ahead. It gets even worse when your opponent the week prior is less than stellar and has played pretty poorly all season...

Isaac Redman to Start Monday Night Against Chiefs

Isaac Redman reportedly told Pittsburgh beat writer Mark Kaboly that he will start on Monday Night against the Chiefs. Redman was a key component of the Steeler’s win against the Giants last week, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. The third-year player from Bowie state should be a nice start this week against a Kansas City team that has given up the seventh-most...

Isaac Redman Likely Starter For Steelers

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review suggests that Isaac Redman will get the start at running back Monday night against the Chiefs.Fantasy Spin:Redman is coming off a great game against the Giants (147 yards, TD) but so is Jonathan Dwyer (107 yards Week 8 against the Redskins). Despite the starter label we're expecting the Steelers' rushing workload to be close to a 50/50 split on Monday.

“All Signs” Suggest That Isaac Redman Will Start Against The Chiefs

Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review tweets that ”all signs” suggest that the Steelers will start RB Isaac Redman against Kansas City on Monday night. Head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned that he intends to ride the hot handed running back this weekend, so Jonathan Dwyer could still cut into Redman’s overall workload. Still, Redman is coming off of a decent game...

Injury Updates Week 10: Jonathan Dwyer, Rashard Mendenhall, Isaac Redman, Jake Locker, Percy Harvin

The fantasy season is nearing its postseason. The weeks are winding down; the injuries are piling up. You need to stay ahead of everything in order...

An Appreciation of Steelers Heath Miller in Just One Play

I’ve written plenty of pieces on Heath Miller and there has never been one that hasn’t been deserved which means there hasn’t been a bad one. What can you really say negatively about this guy? Well, he did drop a pass Sunday against the Giants so away with him! Not really… Actually, there was another play in the win over New York that I thought epitomized the hard work and...

Isaac Redman Will Get The Start On Monday

Mark Kaboly from The Pittsburgh Tribune Review reports that RB Isaac Redman has told him that he will start on Monday against the Chiefs. Redman handled the workload last week against the Giants after injuries to Rashard Mendenhall and Jonathan Dwyer kept them out of the game. The result was a positive one as Redman rushed for 147 yards, a career best, and scored the game winning...

Isaac Redman Will Start For Pittsburgh

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has announced that Isaac Redman will get the start at running back Monday night against Kansas City.Fantasy Spin:The other option was Jonathan Dwyer, who had posted back-to-back 100-yard games before missing last week's game against New York because of a quad injury. Rashard Mendenhall is still struggling with an Achilles injury and is unlikely...

So is it the “hot hand” or is it Rashard Mendenhall for the Steelers?

As the season moves along for the Steelers we might be finding ourselves in the middle of a running back controversy in Pittsburgh. Now, by controversy I don’t mean something that necessarily divides the team like a quarterback controversy can but rather who Mike Tomlin will start vs who everybody else (including the players and coaches) thinks should start. So far we’ve seen...

Steelers Have Tough Choices to Make at Runningback with Dwyer, Redman, and Mendenhall

According to running back coach Kirby Wilson the Steelers starting running back will be Rashard Mendenhall when he is healthy. Mendenhall is not expected to play Monday night against the Chiefs, but could play the following week in the Steelers first match-up with the Baltimore Ravens. Over the past two weeks the Steelers run game has emerged with a one hundred yard rusher in all...

Steelers Offensive Line Breakdown – New York Giants – Week 9

Below is the week 9 offensive line breakdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers win over the New York Giants For a team that rushed for 158 yards you would think that the run blocking would have been consistently good. Don't get me wrong, there were several plays were the blocking was excellent as a unit that produced some good runs, but a lot of credit in this game goes to Isaac...

Competition Analysis Week 10: Steelers Versus Chiefs

By defeating the Super Bowl champion New York Giants they effectively quieted the critics and garnered the regained attention of the media.
