DENVER - AUGUST 29: Head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers has something to say to cornerback Keenan Lewis after he was called for a personal foul as he tackled Brandon Lloyd of the Denver Broncos during preseason NFL action at INVESCO Field at Mile High on August 29, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed free agent cornerback William Gay to a three-year, $4.5 million contract, many feel that unrestricted free agent cornerback Keenan Lewis will for sure now be lost via free agency. This fear, however, would exist regardless if Gay was or wasn't signed. The money given to Gay, when looked at from a salary cap perspective, is nominal. Should the estimated contract numbers that I posted earlier hold true, then Gay only raised the 2013 salary cap Rule of 51 number by $511,666.66 after displacement. It's not like they gave Lewis' money to Gay. I am hearing Read more [...]

  • There is a reason the Steelers signed Gay back, maybe depth at the position. I also believe the Steelers should address the cornerback position in the draft. As soon as Taylor went down with his season ending injury the secondary fell apart. Lewis is not the savior, I want him out sooner than later. I saw Lewis get burnt plenty of times this pass year. Got burnt by one handed Dez Bryant for a touchdown which tied the score 24-24. But we blame Ben. Got burnt by a 21 yard pass to AJ Green. Lewis does not cover the oppositions top receiver, that is Ike''s job! Keep it that away and get rid of Lewis?
  • all i know is that william(TOAST)gay is not the answer!
  • I did not say Gay was better, I am just saying do not over pay for Lewis. Lewis stinks and gets recognize for covering 2nd and 3rd receivers. While Taylor takes care of the number and when Lewis had to step up when Taylor was out. It was not pretty!
