James Farrior’s agent Ralph Cindrich tweeted this morning that percentages are not with his client returning to the Steelers for 2012.  Farrior will be entering his 16th season in the NFL if he was to return next season.  That would be 2 leaders and captains of this team in 2 days if this is true.

It looked as if it was going to come down to Farrior and Foote to see who would stay in 2012.  I was hoping it was Farrior just for his leadership purposes.  Farrior may be declining but he would lead this team better then Foote and could tutor the next person in line.  It had to be one or the other though.  I guess we are finding out who it is.

The move will save the Steelers $2.82 Million in cap space.  That is money that is desperately needed.  The loss of Farrior could save the team some of its restricted free agents.  Some of the tender offers can be given out with the money the Steelers would have.

It looks like the Steelers may be entering into a new era.  With the pending release of Hines Ward and now Farrior the team will be down two guys who were the heart and soul of this team for years.  There will need to be new leadership moving forward.  I can not wait to see who steps up.
