FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ depth chart looks a lot different during AFC Championship week than it did in Week 1. Gone are the Jerod Mayos and Rob Gronkowskis and in their place are rookies and castoffs. Yet, the Patriots are fighting for their eighth appearance in a Super Bowl as they plan for the Denver Broncos. It seems like the depth chart changes week to week either because a new player has been placed on injured reserve or because a young player has begun to step up. On Saturday night in the AFC divisional playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts, rookie linebacker Jamie Collins got a boost in starting reps after Brandon Spikes was placed on injured reserve. Check out the latest projected depth chart below. OFFENSE LeGarrette Blount appears to have a stronghold on the starting running back slot. And why shouldn’t he? Blount has been the best offensive player on the Patriots the last two weeks and there isn’t a running back playing better than him left in the ...

Patriots Leave Tom Brady Hanging, Still Won’t High-Five Quarterback After Beating Colts (Photo)

Tom Brady can’t catch a break in the high-five department. The quarterback’s struggle to get a high-five is well-documented, and the trend continued into the postseason. After being stiffed for a second time in Week 16, wide receiver Julian Edelman promised high-five Brady the next time he saw the QB looking for one. But it appears Edelman wasn’t true to his word, as a photo...

Aqib Talib clears up the Marquice Cole controversy plus more from Belichick and Mankins

Former Patriot Marquice Cole signed with the Broncos yesterday. This led to sort of a mini-controversy in Patriot land. Cole can maybe give the Broncos some inside info, more so than Deion Branch when he signed with the Colts last week. The former Pats corner knows his teammates tendencies a little bit better and can also give some info on nagging injuries. So, are there hard feelings...

Aaron Hernandez Can’t Watch Patriots Playoff Games In Prison

A year ago, Aaron Hernandez was helping the New England Patriots reach the AFC Championship Game. This time around, he hasn’t even been able to watch the Patriots reach the conference title game — and it isn’t by choice, according to the Boston Herald. The accused killer ins’t allowed to watch any TV at the Bristol County House of Correction in North Dartmouth, Mass., says Bristol...

Sealver Siliga is playing with a chip on his shoulder

When the Patriots sent a 4th round draft pick to Philadelphia at this year' trading deadline, the player they got in return was supposed to step in and fill the void in the center of the Patriots' D-line. We all knew that player, Isaac Sopoaga, was not as talented as Vince wilfork and Tommy Kelly, the players he was replacing. But few could have anticipated that now Sopoaga...

Brady listed as out because of illness and right shoulder

Much of the attention paid to Patriots practice on Wednesday was directed toward a player who wasn’t there. Quarterback Tom Brady missed practice, leaving Ryan Mallett to take all the snaps for both the first-team offense and the scout team working against the starting defense. Bill Belichick didn’t have any comment beyond telling people there would be an injury report on Wednesday...

Spikes' agent: IR designation wasn't mutual decision

BY NICK ST. DENISLast week, reports surfaced that New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes' recent injured reserved designation was due to his being late to a meeting.Whether or not that was true, and there were some reports disputing the notion, Spikes was battling a knee ailment but had played in all 16 regular season games. He planned on fighting through it in the postseason...

Matthew Slater: "There is something special about this team"

After all the injuries the Patriots have sustained at key positions throughout the season, it's a borderline miracle they finished with a 12-4 regular season record and find themselves playing in their eighth AFC championship. Matthew Slater echoed that sentiment: Pats Pro Bowl special teamer Matthew Slater to @SiriusXMNFL: "I think there is something special about this...

Charles Barkley Calls Patriots Fans “Spoiled, Unappreciative”

Charles Barkley sure knows how to piss off a fan base. Barkley attended Saturday night’s Colts-Patriots game as a guest of Bill Belichick, and afterwards blasted Pats fans for being unappreciative among other things.  “I want my team to have a chance to win,” Barkley told reporters, via Nick O’Malley of MassLive.com.  “That’s all I want.  In 99 percent of the cities...

How Brady beat the Colts without throwing the ball

After the New England Patriots dismantled the Indianapolis Colts by virtue of 6 rushing touchdowns. Rightly, the running back committee got their praise. A lot has also been made of Tom Brady's seemingly quiet day at the office, with just 13 completions for 198 yards and 0 touchdowns. But that doesn't mean he was a passenger on this team while #BlountForce did the damage...

Patriots-Broncos Preview

In a season in which Peyton Manning surpassed Tom Brady's single-season record for touchdown passes, it's probably fitting that these superstars will meet with the AFC title on the line. While the quarterbacks will share this weekend's spotlight, there's reason to believe the rushing attacks for the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots will be more decisive to...
