TEAMS: Houston Texans
The Houston Texans have quite the player and person when it comes to defensive lineman J.J. Watt.  We can probably consider him the anti-Manziel. Every #NFL Rookie needs to read this and learn. Well said JJ Watt. — Ben Leber (@nacholeber) July 8, 2014 Watt has the conviction that he’s a football player right now and doesn’t have time to focus on drinking beer and relaxing.  I think every team would love a player like him. var ACE_AR = {Site: '898551', Size: '468060', CallType: 'IFRAME'}; Loading... • The Texans "Poster Boy" did not have an exceptional year in 2013. Manziel has not played a down of NFL football. FWIW, I would like to see Manziel and the Browns kick the Texans ass.
  • The Texans "Poster Boy" was, unfortunately, dealing with a few key defensive players out with injuries allowing him to be double teamed. That won't be the case this year. FWIW, I would like to see Manziel eat a lot of turf. Welcome to the NFL Johnny Football.
  • If you are looking for manziel to have a good year, you are going to have to watch the Canadian Football League. The guy is a media hound!

Twitter Tuesday: See this inspiring note from J.J. Watt

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt pushes himself and aspires to great things every day. Whether it’s working out too tremendous limits or making a fans day, Watt is consistently making amazing headlines during the offseason. Now, former NFL player Ben Leber tweeted an inspiring letter written by Watt: Every #NFL Rookie needs to read this and learn. Well said JJ Watt. pic.twitter...

Houston Texans: 2014 training camp preview

Training camp is the time when players know that the start of another season is just around the corner. Players are able to get back to the enjoyment of playing football, but even so there’s always work to be done. New coaches, new plays, new teammates, and new obstacles to overcome. Every team has some sort of new challenge to face including the Houston Texans, who are coming...

Texans’ J.J. Watt Writes Letter to His Teammates

Tired of being teased by his teammates that he has no time for a personal life, including refraining from drinking as many beers as he wants, Houston Texans’ defensive lineman J.J. Watt put his career plans in writing. Every #NFL Rookie needs to read this and learn. Well said JJ Watt. — Ben Leber (@nacholeber) July 8, 2014 While Watt’s personal...

Clowney's rookie goal: Sack Andrew Luck

Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney is setting his sights on a divisional rival who also happens to be a fellow no. 1 draft pick. This year's no.1 pick would like to put 2012' no. 1 pick, quarterback Anrew Luck, on his back perhaps more than once in 2014. “My goal for the rookie season is to try to better myself as a player,” Clowney said, via a video on the...

Houston Texans will surprise in 2014

Expectations are generally not high for a team that wins two games a season, especially when they get the first overall pick and fail to shore up plenty of needs in the offseason. This year’s Houston Texans are no different. Aside from drafting outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney out of South Carolina as a dangerous pass rusher, the Texans didn’t do much to improve the roster...

If Recent History Repeats the Houston Texans Will Make the Playoffs This Season

It was tough for fans of the Houston Texans to watch their team play last season. To go from being two-time division champs to the worst team in the league was a hard pill to swallow. The only good thing to come out of it (besides getting rid of Gary Kubiak) was the No. 1 pick in the draft--former South Carolina defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney. Not to mention that if recent history...

Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien not named top-10 in the NFL… yet

Typically speaking, sports fans tend to worry about two things – the past and the future. They’ll debate who was the greatest player of all-time, while also spending hours discussing whether or not a rookie is going to be develop into an All-Pro. Both are fun exercises, things that keep fans engaged and the beer flowing at the local tavern. But they miss out on what is most important...

Quotable Monday: Jadeveon Clowney reveals his goal for 2014

The Houston Texans desperately needed a  quarterback heading into the NFL draft. Instead of taking one in the first round, they found outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney’s talents way too attractive to pass up. The Texans took him with the first pick, thinking of how strong of a pass rush he and J.J. Watt could form. In a video that was posted on the team’s official website...

“Hopefully” Andre Johnson Returns to the Texans

Asked if he’ll be at camp, #Texans WR Andre Johnson told NFLN’s @MarcusSmith_ “Hopefully. We’ll see what happens. Camp is 3 weeks away” — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) July 9, 2014   In other news, Andre Johnson was asked by @nflnetwork if he’ll be a Texan week 1: “I don’t know. I can’t answer that question.” — nick wright (@getnickwright) July 9, 2014   Training...

Andre Johnson Won’t Commit to the Texans for Week 1

The current stalemate between wide receiver Andre Johnson and the Houston Texans may not be ending anytime soon. While Johnson’s frustration seems to be more about the direction of the franchise than his current contract, there remains a chance that he will not report to training camp later this month.  Johnson had this to say about the current situation between himself and the...

Do the Houston Texans have a top-20 outside linebacker in the NFL?

When cover32 released its list of the top 10 outside linebackers in the NFL today, there were some people angry about their favorite team’s top pass rusher not making the list. It made for a bit of spirited debate in the “Comments” section below the article. And it also begged another question: How close was Mr. Irate Fan’s OLB to making the list? To provide an answer, the...

Clowney: 'My goal in the NFL is to sack Andrew Luck'

Soon after the Houston Texans drafted Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 1 overall pick, the former South Carolina defensive star said Colts quarterback Andrew Luck "better have his head on a swivel." Two months later, with the season fast approaching, Clowney still has his sights set on getting to Luck, according to a video interview on the Texans' official website. "...

Should Arian Foster be an early fantasy pick?

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is consistently one of the top guys to be taken in an NFL Fantasy draft. Every year in magazines and NFL sites, you’re always being told to take him. Considering he has 5,063 rushing yards in five seasons (four of them when he became the starter,) and 45 touchdowns, it’s easy to see why.  He’s topped 1,200 rushing yards in three of...

Video: Jadeveon Clowney’s NFL Goal Is To Sack Andrew Luck One Time

Jadeveon Clowney may be the top overall pick in the NFL Draft and one of the most hyped defensive players in recent memory, but he’s not getting too wild with his goals and ambitions in the NFL. The former USC Gamecock discussed his NFL goals, and he talked about getting the chance to chase after another former first overall pick—Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. Clowney...

Houston Texans Season Preview: never too early

With the NFL, there’s always a demand for discussion. In America, the NFL slaughters everything, with all other games a niche sport. Even college football, which clearly comes in second. However, it’s a distant second. Anyway, let’s get this party started. We continue the never too early season preview series with the Houston Texans. Overview:  Last year’s AFC South title...
