Found September 18, 2012 on The Football Fan Spot:
Last week: 25 (-2) Record: 0-2 Matt Cassel is a limited quarterback, so their best chances of making the playoffs would have been to follow the solid defense, good running game, conservative offense, easy schedule, don’t make mistakes model they made it on in 2010. That doesn’t work so well if the defense doesn’t play well. Allowing 40 at home in the opener to Atlanta, missing your top cornerback and top pass rusher, is excusable. Allowing 35 to the Bills at full strength is not. The Chiefs have had to abandon their conservative offensive game plan in each of their first 2 games, passing a whopping 42 times to 24 runs last week, and they’ve predictably turned it over 6 times in 2 games. The Chiefs stand at 0-2 and head into New Orleans this week with a good chance to go down 0-3. It’s starting to look like the best Chiefs fan can hope for is their team finally bottoms out this season and takes a franchise quarterback through the draft. Matt Cassel is what he is and he’s owed a non-g...

K.C. radio host goes on epic Chiefs rant

Kansas City radio host "Bulldog" Bob Fescoe unleashed a tirade against the hometown Chiefs that featured the following: "You give people nothing to live for. You suck."

Scott Pioli not ready to panic after 0-2 start

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli doesn’t seem too worried even though his team has started off the season with two straight losses. “If any one of us knew what the answer was, we wouldn’t be sitting where we’re sitting right now,” Pioli said, via the Kansas City Star. “But I also don’t think it’s the end of the world. We have 14 games left. We’re certainly...

Banged-up Chiefs force changes to practice

It's only Week 3 and already the Kansas City Chiefs are so banged up they're altering their practice schedule. The Chiefs were planning to practice in pads Wednesday, but coach Romeo Crennel said he would push that back by a day to give a lengthy list of players an extra day to heal. Tight ends Kevin Boss and Jake O'Connell and offensive lineman Ryan Lilja are being...

Charles bangs up reconstructed knee

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles dinged up the same knee that needed reconstructive surgery last season during Sunday's 35-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Charles, who tore his left ACL in Week 2, carried only six times for three yards against the Bills. He could be seen riding a bike on the sideline and asking to play the rest of the game. Kansas City coach Romeo...

Chiefs not reading into Cassel's body language

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Justin Christian is a Kansas City Chiefs fan and a body-language specialist, so this month has been a little more, shall we say, conflicted than most. As a rooting interest, watching this team has turned Sunday afternoons into three hours of taking a fork to your unprotected eyeballs. But as a case study? As a case study, from a purely clinical standpoint, Romeo...

Chiefs searching for answers in 0-2 start

(Eds: Incorporates FBN--Chiefs-Charles. With AP Photos.) By DAVE SKRETTA AP Sports Writer The running game has disappeared. Matt Cassel looks completely lost. The defense has struggled to stop anybody, and even the special teams are looking anything but special. The Kansas City Chiefs are winless through two games - two demoralizing, one-sided losses to begin the year - and now...

Week 2 Fantasy Football Recap: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills

Kansas City Chiefs – 17, Buffalo Bills – 35Ugly ugly ugly is all you can say about the Chiefs’ effort, especially QB Matt Cassel’s (304 total yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT) through about three and half quarters.  Two late touchdown passes with the game already decided are the only things that saved Cassel’s fantasy day.  At some point, the Chiefs have to wonder if there’s any...

Kansas City Chiefs are in hot water

Week 2 and 3 are some of the most interesting weeks of the NFL season. It's at this point in the year that fanbases begin to realize that their team may not be what they thought they had. On the other hand, some teams are stunning everyone by getting off to a quick start. No one is dead in the water yet, but this is the time of the season when panic begins to spread. That...

Déjà Vu All Over Again

Here we go again Chiefs fans.  In two weeks the Chiefs have gone from promising to forgotten.  Losing to a perennial playoff contender is one thing but being blown out by a perennial loser that lost by 20 the week before is a whole other monster.  On the very small bright side, at least we didn’t lose by 34 like last year.  I’m not sure if the Buffalo Bills have the Chiefs...

Kansas City Chiefs at New Orleans Saints: Week 3 NFL Pick

Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) at New Orleans Saints (0-2) I don’t think anyone really knew how the Saints would respond to BountyGate and the corresponding BountyGate penalties. Would they fall flat? Would they go into eff you mode? Would it not really matter? I leaned more on the positive side because Sean Payton was an offensive coach and Drew Brees could handle the offense by himself...

For good (& ill), 1 man can impact team

On Sunday, in a matchup between two winless teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints will showcase one of the NFL's elusive truths: That one man -- one man who does not compete on the field -- can shape the destiny of an entire organization. For the Chiefs, the 0-2 record can be traced directly to the presence and so-called leadership of general manager Scott Pioli...

Fantasy Football Week 3 waiver wire pickups

There are some intriguing names available on the waiver wire this week. The key word is intriguing because none of these players are going to turn your season around. However, there are some nice grab and stash options that could pay dividends later in the season.

Week Two: Sit ‘em & Start ‘em Recap + Player Pickups

In this short post I go over the Sit ‘em & Start ‘em pick that I made before the weekend, I give a list of players who had breakout games and could be worth a waiver wire pickup.  Get a hold of me on Twitter: @Blackie_Mike Start ‘Em: Cassel was one of just a few players who came threw for me in week two by throwing for 300 yards against the Bills. Matt Cassel: 301 yards...
