TweetIs it Karma? The Green Bay Packers are robbed by the replacement refs versus the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. The play came on a Hail Mary throw from QB Russell Wilson to WR Golden Tate. Was it a horrible call by the replacement referees? YES! There is no doubt this was one of the worst calls in recent history, the tuck rule comes to mind as another. As a Giants fan who watched the Green Bay Packers get call after call during a regular season game, I have to wonder if this is Karma. I get no satisfaction from it, as the video below shows Jennings clearly caught what seemed to be an INT. To add insult to injury Tate had just pushed #37 Sam Shields to the ground in order to get better position. That should have been offensive pass interference. Video: Hail Mary Pass Seattle Seahawks Vs Green Bay Packers MNF Karma Referees Helped Green Bay Packers in Week 13 Versus The NY Giants I wrote an article last season after week 13 when the Packers were the beneficiaries of a bunch of calls from real NFL referees. The article: Evidence the Refs helped Packers Beat The Giants clearly showed how biased refs were. That article received thousands of hits including 1,300+ Facebook shares which is quite a bit for a small blog/site like mine. Fans were upset and amazed how one side a game could go. But it just did not stop there, the Green Bay were protected by regular NFL referees last season regardless who they played. It's almost as if the NFL was going to make sure the Packers were in the Super Bowl. Again there is no satisfaction from a fans perspective watching a game end on a bad call but Giants fans lived through it last season on several occasions. Real NFL referees must have been sitting and laughing as they watched the end of this Monday Night Football game. Talk about getting the upper hand or leverage, if this doesn't light a fire under Roger Goodell, nothing will. It's a horrible loss for the Packers but it should not be an excuse or a lingering issue. The New York Giants didn't allow the game against Green Bay to stop them from winning a Super Bowl.

Fantasy takeaway: Golden Tate, before the touchdown that wasn’t, became relevant last night

Last night, before the scene that ended the game, Golden Tate impressed against the Green Bay Packers. He's worth an add in your fantasy league. I’m disappointed that my first article in the wake of the Monday Night Football debacle is a fantasy piece ignoring the larger issue, but, my deadline is my deadline and I owe an article reflecting on my weekend picks. So, you’ll...

Victor Cruz: I would admit I didn’t catch the ball if I was Golden Tate

When the officials were trying to sort out what had happened on the final play of the Packers-Seahawks game on Monday night, Golden Tate had no choice but to insist he had joint possession of the ball and had caught the game-winning touchdown. Tate’s job is to do anything he can to help his team win, so obviously you can’t fault him even if M.D. Jennings clearly intercepted the...

Seattle Seahawks, Replacement Referees Make Great Team

It was fourth and last chance, throw it up, and pray. I had all but turned the television off, exasperated at another chance for Seattle to make a statement on a national stage.I watched helplessly as Russell Wilson scrambled right, perform the five d's of dodge ball, dodge, duck, dip, dive, dodge, and throw a bomb to the back left corner of the end zone.Who would have known...

The straw that broke the camel’s back

After an atrocious week of officiating I speak for everyone when I say, “The time to get rid of the replacement officials is now!” I literally saw messed up calls in every single game this week, some worse than others. I saw wrong spots on penalties, a hospitalized player on a helmet to helmet with no flag, not reviewing replay properly on a challenge, wrong calls and the list...

SteelDad Breaks Down the Inaccurate Reception

First and foremost, I am Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan. That also makes me a football fan. I have played and watched and coached a lot of football in my many years on this rock so while that doesn’t necessarily make me an expert, I do feel a certain amount of expertise. I feel, therefore, it’s my duty to break down this play in the only way I can and that means as sarcastically...

Replacement Refs Got It Right. World doesn’t Care

There was a football game once. During that game a play occurred in the final minute of the game and resulted in the referees determining the outcome of the game by poorly misinterpreting the rules. That game then affected the entire season because of division standings and playoff seeding. That game was played on September 12th, 2010 in front of actual NFL referees at Soldier Field...

Prideful or Shameful Win? One Answer

A night that was supposed to go down in history as one of the greatest regular season finshes ever has been clouded in drama and controversy. Everywhere you turned on Tuesday morning was a debate over the final play of last night’s thrilling victory (or is it, say the so-called experts) over Green Bay. It was inescapable; even non-sports fans didn’t hear the end of it. And there...
