The New England Patriots offense started slowly against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Patriots appeared to be spreading the ball around a lot without getting a whole lot accomplished in terms of yards and first downs. Luckily the defense held their own against the Bucs by only giving up a field goal in the first quarter. Tampa Bay’s kicker Rian Lindell helped out by missing his first attempt from the 38 yard line. The Patriots would finally get things rolling on their 4th possession of the day. Although they were still struggling on third down, the Patriots would go for it on 4th and 2 from the Tampa Bay 37 with a direct snap to Brandon Bolden. Five plays later Tom Brady would connect with undrafted rookie free agent WR Kenbrell Thompkins for his first NFL touchdown. On the Patriots next possession, the offense would once again hit its stride as Thompkins would catch his second touchdown pass. Tampa Bay safety Dashon Goldson would help the Patriots move the ball down the field as he was called for pass interference on Aaron Dobson. The penalty occurred on a 3rd and 5 from the Tampa Bay 45 and was good for 28 yards. So far the Patriots are a perfect 2 for 2 in the red zone today. Josh Freeman wasn’t happy going into the half down by only 11, so he threw an easy interception to Aqib Talib with 16 seconds left in the half. The Patriots would end up scoring 3 more points before heading to the locker room on a 53 yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski.

Patriots showing interest in Josh Gordon--cover32: Latest on cover32:  With the Browns actively trying to dismantle the nightmare that previous regimes have constructed and with the Patriots rather thin at the wide receiver position, one would speculate that New England could have interest in acquiring Gordon.

Brady, Pats face an old foe in Darrelle Revis

They saw him twice a year as a Jet, sometimes even more when the playoffs came around, and Tom Brady and the New England Patriots know Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis pretty well and the challenges he can pose to their passing game. And as it were, Revis and Brady will be seeing each other on opposite sides of the field once again when the two teams face in a week 3 matchup.

Five takeaways from Patriots win over Bucs | New England Patriots: Here’s my game recap over at cover32: Here’s some food for thought: For the first time since 2007, the New England Patriots are 3-0. What to watch for: New England Patriots vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Here are five things to keep an eye on as the New England Patriots take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m. Sunday in Foxboro. 1) Can the Pats' receivers bounce back from a tough performance against the Jets? Round Table: Fixing the Offense

What do the Patriots need to do to get the offense back on track? Derek:  I think they just need to be patient.  Gronk, Amendola, and Vereen will all be back in time.  In the mean time, this is the perfect situation to let the rookies develop some chemistry with Tom Brady.  For all the drops, missed throws, and wrong routes that we saw last Thursday night, I think most people...

Patriots Life Poll: Star of the Game

The quick takeaways from the Patriots 23-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were: The Pats defense could be this teams biggest strength, Tom Brady doesn't need to send the Bat-Signal for Brandon Lloyd, the rookie wideouts may be a work in progress, but they are talented and Greg Schiano will not be confused with Vince Lombardi anytime soon.
