MIAMI - JANUARY 03: Head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers looks toward the scoreboard after the Miami Dolphins pull to within three points in the fourth quarter at Land Shark Stadium on January 3, 2010 in Miami, Florida. Last week in sports was a unique one in that two separate coaches in two separate leagues both took it upon themselves to take the game into their hands and run a little interference. Mike Tomlin’s sideline antics that cost him a hefty $100 thousand and Jason Kidd’s soft drink fumble during the Nets-Lakers game could have turned the tides for NFL and NBA betting. Especially in Tomlin’s case, as his sneaky little sideline play looked to have prevented a Jacoby Jones kick return touchdown. Here’s the original GIF of Tomlin, courtesy of Fansided:The more recent video leak offers a pretty damning view, and is probably just the evidence the league needed to drop the hammer and fine Tomlin for his actions. If you watch the second video closely, you’ll see Tomlin actually step to the sideline and then stop dead, staring away from the play. The way things turned out for Jones, who was tackled just a few yards later, he should have stepped out of line himself – both literally and figuratively — and executed a little bump and run on the Steelers head coach. As we mentioned before, Tomlin wasn’t the only bench boss up to no good. Kidd apparently forgot about the presence of high definition cameras at NBA basketball games, as he clearly tells Tyshawn Taylor to give him a little love bump on the edge of the court so he can spill his drink and earn an extra timeout for the Nets. Justice was served, though, as Brooklyn ended up losing the game. Kidd was also asked to hand over a fresh $50 thousand to the league for his transgressions.
