Pittsburgh Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley took heavy fire in the offseason for what was perceived as him being out of shape and not playing up to his potential. Hamstring and ankle ailments caused him to sit out nine games the past two seasons. There even some grumbling from fellow teammates, though no one stood up to take claim of the jabs tossed Woodley's' way. The linebacker took it all in stride and went about quieting his critics by getting healthy and ready for the 2013 season.

Steelers Injury Report: LB Jarvis Jones Questionable; LB Sean Spence Suffers Finger Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their Friday practice and the final injury report for Sunday game at Heinz Field against the Baltimore Ravens is now out. Linebacker Jarvis Jones (concussion), who continues to try to fight through the concussion he sustained last Sunday in the win over the New York Jets, practiced Friday and is officially listed as questionable on the...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Sean Spence’s Return Would Be a Different Kind of Victory

Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t make the playoffs in 2012, Charlie Batch did lead them to a dramatic upset of the eventual Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens in early December. When Shaun Suisham’s field goal sailed through the uprights as time ran out in Baltimore, Batch and Ben Roethlisberger embraced for at least 30 seconds. They knew they were nearing the end...

Steelers LB Sean Spence Not Guaranteeing Anything Upon His Return To Practice

As expected, Pittsburgh Steelers second-year linebacker Sean Spence practiced Wednesday for the first time since severely injuring his left knee 14 months ago in the 2012 preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers. "It felt good," said Spence after practice. "It held up pretty solid. I have to look at the film to get a better diagnosis of it and continue to build...

Richard Mann Explains Decision To Add Of WR Devon Wylie To The Practice Squad

With two wide receivers already on the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad in Kashif Moore and Justin Brown, the decision to add free agent wide receiver Devon Wylie earlier this week to the eight man unit was a curious one. In a recent interview with David Todd of 970 ESPN Radio, wide receiver coach Richard Mann explained the reasoning behind it. "I think what it is, is another...

LB Jarvis Jones could miss Sunday with head injury

Although there was no indication that Pitsburgh Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones had an injury following their win against the New York Jets Sunday, he missed practice Wednesday due to a "head" injury, the team said, via We think head injury we think concussion, and if that's the diagnosis, Jones could very miss this Sunday's matchup against...

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones could miss Ravens game

Last week Jarvis Jones was diagnosed with a concussion suffered during last week’s win against the New York Jets, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Jones must pass the league-mandated concussion protocol to be cleared. The rookie participated in an “exercise challenge” Thursday per the Gazette, which is part of the process. Jones said he was injured on a kickoff in […]

Steelers’ Injury Report: Heath Miller, LaMarr Woodley, Jarvis Jones

The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon.  The Steelers are coming off their first win of the season and are looking to keep the good times rolling.  Who is in?  Who is out?  Find out, in your Pittsburgh Steelers Week 7 injury report. The Steelers have two players listed as out; wide receiver Markus Wheaton (finger) did not participate all week and...

Steelers announce Jarvis Jones has a concussion

Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones missed practice on Wednesday with what the team described as a head injury. They’re now describing it as a concussion. Steelers PR man Burt Lauten announced that Jones was diagnosed with a concussion by team doctors on Wednesday evening. Per Lauten Jones first alerted doctors of symptoms on Monday and that he has been tested and treated since then...

Left Tackle Shuffle Forces Rethinking Of Backup Plan

By Matthew Marczi The developments at the left tackle position over the past couple weeks obviously have wide-ranging implications with regards to how it affects the Pittsburgh Steelers and their plans going forward. The team obviously had hoped to plug in Mike Adams at left tackle and perhaps play him for the next decade there, but clearly he is not ready to do that just yet, if...

Pittsburgh Steelers: 2013 Week 7 NFL Power Rankings (#23)

Last week: 25 (+2) Record: 1-4 The Steelers finally broke into the win column against the Jets with an “upset” win. I put upset in quotation marks because the Steelers were actually favored by a point on the road when all was said and done as both the odds makers and the sharps believed the Steelers were better than they looked before the bye and that the Jets were really inconsistent...

Pouncey Says He's Ahead of Schedule

We all know how the season started for the Steelers, and perhaps a big reason why was the ugly shot of bad luck we experienced on the Steelers first drive of the game week one against the Tennessee Titans. Pulling to the left, guard David DeCastro inexplicably decided to dive at Maurkice Pouncey's blocked opponent without looking. DeCastro's full weight went right into...

A Good Trick Play With A Bad Result Against The Jets

Like many of you, I questioned the fourth quarter trick-play call ran by the Pittsburgh Steelers against the New York Jets this past Sunday on third down and seven from the Jets 17 yard-line. Why take the ball out of the hands of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in a situation like that and put it into the hands of wide receiver Antonio Brown? With that being said, the play should...

Some Positives From Heath Miller In New York

By Matthew Marczi Yesterday, we took a look at some of the lowlights exposed in tight end Heath Miller’s game against the New York Jets, during which he struggled to block on screen passes and also relinquished a sack. Yet he also managed a season-high in receiving yards that game, so it clearly could not have been all bad, so now it is time to take a look at some of the positives...

Baltimore Travels to Pittsburgh to Face Archrival Steelers

The 3-3 Baltimore Ravens travel to archrival Pittsburgh this week to face the 1-4 Steelers Sunday at 4:25 p.m.Last week the Ravens' offense failed in their imitation of a high school JV team, unfortunately spoiling a stellar effort from their defense against the Packers, which resulted in a 19-17 loss at home. The Steelers have struggled all season, but did finally pick up their...

Heath Miller Took His Lumps Against The Jets

By Matthew Marczi After coming off a very strong game in terms of blocking against the Minnesota Vikings, tight end Heath Miller did not have such an easy time against the New York Jets this past week—and not just because he was beaten for a sack. To be fair, Rex Ryan’s defense is more aggressive, more disciplined, and just all-around better than what the Vikings were able to...
