Preparing for the Pittsburgh Steelers the Eagles have the ability and TAPE to be ready for the challenge. The Eagles have seen as recently as the Arizona game what waits for them in Pittsburgh. Ray Horton Arizona Defensive Coordinator a Steelers alum and Dick LeBeau graduate, ran a very similar defense to what the Eagles will see this week. Blitz’s, blitz’s and more blitz’s, is what you can expect from the 1-2 Steelers. The Steelers also will be much improved defensively from last week, expected back in the lineup James Harrison and Troy Polamalu. The Eagles re-made offensive line’s job will be much tougher with the addition of theses two stars.
Slowing down the rush and how will the Eagles do this: Tight-Ends and the screen-pass could play major roles in the game. Absent for the most part this season, the Eagles need to effectively use the screen and slow down the linebackers. Using tight-ends Brent Celek and Clay Harbor throughout the game picking up the outside blitz on Vicks back-side another must. Finally as always stated and/or screamed, the Eagles must run the ball and run it often.
The Eagles defensively have a bigger challenge with the return of running back Rashard Mendenhall, who will make his season debut. The Steelers who have had little success this season running the football are expected to limit Mendenhall’s touches. A limited Mendenhall, is far better than any of the other Steeler options and the defense must keep him under lockdown. Play-action-pass, a big part of Big Ben’s game that has been absent this season and directly relatable to the 1-2 start.
Screen-passes, protecting Vick with tight-end help and running the football, the three keys to winning over the Steelers. Along with the redundant, PROTECT THE FOOTBALL and BALANCE. If the Eagles can effectively do all of these, at 0:00 the score will read EAGLES 24  STEELERS 20. Another desert-style performance will mean they have not done any or few and the score….well lets be positive.Similar Posts:
