By Len PasquarelliThe Sports Xchange One of the more obvious upshots from the Miami minicamp this week is that tailback Reggie Bush will be a lot more than a runner in the West Coast offense that new head coach Joe Philbin and coordinator Mike Sherman are installing. On his way to the first 1,000-yard campaign of his NFL career, Bush logged 216 carries last season, not a lot by some standards, but still 59 more than he'd registered in any of his previous five seasons. That number figures to be reduced this season, in part because the Dolphins are expecting a lot more from second-year veteran Daniel Thomas, but more because Philbin and Sherman plan to align Bush in a variety of spots, it seems. Bush has suggested he wants to win the league rushing title this season, but it won't happen in the new offense, which isn't to say Bush won't be an impactful player. The Dolphins don't have many real play makers, and the Miami coaches want to maximize Bush's abil...

  • It's going to be tough to figure out where to fantasy draft Bush and Thomas this year. I don't know about Bush being a "nightmare" for linebackers in the past - his fantasy numbers were generally a letdown each season.

Chad Ochocinco Forced To Climb Up Dolphins Depth Chart; Changing Name Back To Johnson?

Normally, we don't like to go overboard on covering former Bengals players who have since left Cincinnati for another team and/or career endeavor. But, Chad Ochocinco isn't your everyday former Bengal, is he? Chad has had many interesting offseasons in his twelve-year career, but none have been as tumultuous or humbling as 2012. After getting released by the New England Patriots...

Dolphins QBs all fighting for top spot

DAVIE, Fl. -- Quarterbacks Matt Moore and David Garrard are playing the game, and we're not talking about football. The game, for these purposes, means lying in the weeds, doing and saying all the right things, maybe even laughing to themselves a bit while Miami Dolphins fans and media fawn all over rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill. But when training camp starts late next...

For now, let us examine the Dolphins' most overrated and underrated players. UNDERRATED: ...

Fish fight: Miami Dolphins players scuffle at practice

Spare us any comments on the title. We know dolphins are mammals; ‘Mammal fight’ just doesn’t have the same feel to it. Well, it looks like the Miami Dolphins are not only practicing for the 2012 season, they’re also getting in reality show form for the upcoming “Hard Knocks” series on HBO. We got a glimpse at what we might be seeing come training camp at Wednesday’s...

Joe Philbin says Ryan Tannehill is improving

Getty Images Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin indicated that rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill made some progress during today’s minicamp practice while running the first-team offense. “He made a lot of progress. I thought there were a lot of good things. Ryan threw a couple real nice balls. He made a couple good adjustments in terms of recognition of protection. We like...

Miami Dolphins cheerleader do "Call Me Maybe" (Video)

Previously on Outside the Boxscore, we've shown you homemade music videos using Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" as the inspiration. Well, the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders have their own version and it might be the sexiest one that we've seen so far. They shot it in the Dominican Republic as part of their swimsuit calendar and it's pretty good...

Ochocinco proposed during 'Call of Duty'

According to fiancée Evelyn Lozada, Ochocinco had a jeweler come to the house and barely looked up from his game of Call of Duty to propose to her after she picked out a ring.

Chad Ochocinco Barely Stopped Playing 'Call of Duty,' Still Had Headset on When Proposing to Evelyn Lozada (Video)

Chad Ochocinco is known for spicing things up. Just not wedding proposals. Ochocinco's fiancee, Evelyn Lozada, recently sat down with Yahoo! Music, during which she discussed the wide receiver's proposal to her. Apparently, Ochocinco was very consumed in what he was already doing at the time. "My proposal, it really wasn't that romantic," Lozada said. "...

New Eagles safety Atogwe still has gas left in tank

By Len PasquarelliThe Sports Xchange Seven-year veteran safety O.J. Atogwe, added this week by Philadelphia, balked at suggestions his best football is behind him. Still, Atogwe, 31, hasn't been as productive in recent seasons, and there is a reason (or at least a perception) why the Eagles will represent his third team in three seasons. That said, Philly coaches still feel...

Patriots' offensive line could face a challenge

By Len PasquarelliThe Sports Xchange Dante Scarnecchia, the venerable New England assistant head coach/offensive line, could have his work cut out for him in 2012. Left tackle Matt Light has retired after 11 seasons and will be replaced by second-year veteran and former first-rounder Nate Solder. The incumbent right tackle, Sebastian Vollmer, continued to be bothered in the offseason...

Vikes' Harvin situation gets more confounding

By Len PasquarelliThe Sports Xchange Since even close associates of Percy Harvin were confused this week by the wide receiver's one-day boycott of the Minnesota minicamp -- other than to say that the absence was not contract-related -- the source of the three-year veteran's unhappiness with his situation is curious. Compounding the confusion was the Friday morning report...
