These huge billboards of Peyton Manning in Dolphins’ colors are scattered all around South Florida like those monstrous cockroaches that creep behind the flat top stove at your local Steak N’ Shake.  These signs have been standing tall weeks before the world learned of Peyton Manning’s dismissal with the Indianapolis Colts. Now that Peyton will be on the market on Wednesday, these billboards that are saturated with hope are beginning to inch closer to reality. I mean, Peyton is 35 years old and just got through a long and excruciating recovery from a neck operation. He’s already earned his ticket to the Hall of Fame and he has broken numerous amounts of NFL and Colt records. What’s a better way to earn your golden watch other than enjoying the warm weather in Florida all year round? One good hit can take Manning out indefinitely, but he still wants his $28 million+ check, wouldn’t you?

In that regard, four teams that I believe are willing to ink up a check for Peyton’s services are Dolphins, Jets, Cardinals and 49ers. Kevin Kolb is a rising star in Arizona and Alex Smith had a surprisingly remarkable season with the 49ers, you know, slaying the Saints in the Superdome during a playoff game like a boss and all. It’s going to come down to Jets or Dolphins, I just have that feeling. Rex Ryan is a Sanchez-maniac, so I find it difficult to believe that he would let the 35 year old Peyton Manning take over “Gang Green” just so he can retire a few years later. So unless Rex gets fired, I doubt Manning will become an asset for the Jets. That leaves us with the Miami Dolphins. Let’s discuss a few pros:

-awesome weather

-close to family

-best place on earth to retire in

-great team and coaching

-chance to recreate the Marino era

If you also believe that Manning will go to Miami, maybe it’s time to invest in some season tickets. They are going for as low as $870 retail for lower level end zone and will double the second Manning signs his name next on a contract that will allow him to take his talents to South Beach. The only thing he'll need after that is one of those caveman-like, scruffy Miami beards to go along with it.
