According to the National Football Post, even though Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will likely get the $20 million per season that he’s looking for, many personnel men around the league don’t believe he’s an “elite” quarterback. Joe Flacco very well may become the highest paid quarterback in the NFL in the very near future, but many personnel men still do not consider him an elite quarterback. Why will he be paid like one? Timing. Flacco obviously got hot at the most opportune of times when he led the Ravens to the Super Bowl. He also did it in a year when there is no can’t miss quarterback in the draft or on the free agent market. He also has no backup on the Ravens who is capable of taking his job. It’s a perform storm for Flacco because the Ravens have no viable option to replace him. I personally don’t believe Flacco should get the same kind of money that Drew Brees and Peyton Manning are earning, but after a very impressive playoff run that ended in a Super Bowl title this past season, I can’t argue with him likely cashing in on a big-time contract.  As we all know, it’s not easy to win a Super Bowl.     Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

  • The kid is as good as the others are today and deserves more then they make today but Joe will never be elite no matter how many play off games he wins or SB trophys he brings home because the media hates the Ravens and Joe while they slobber all over Brady, Manning, Brees, etc.
    If you did a drinking game while listening to the broadcast and drank every time they said the great Brady this or the perfect Payton Manning that you would be smashed by the end of the first quarter. Joe deserves to be in the top 5 of the highest paid but I hope he saves room for the salary cap to have a great supporting cast cause even the best QB's cant carry the team all the time. Just like last season when Brady was yelling at his coach, "I cant f_in do it every time".
  • Look at how well the so-called "Elite" QB's did, shall we? Breese, Big Ben and Eli all watched the playoffs from home. Rogers and RGIII were both one and done. Peyton and Brady watched Joe out prefrom them in their home stadiums. Colin watched Joe out duel him on the biggest stage. What more does he have to do to get the haters off his back?

    Flacco is tied for the most post season wins in his first 5 years with Brady. He is the ONLY QB to lead his team to the play off's each of his first 5 years and win a game each year. He tied Joe Montanna with 11 post season TD's with out an INT in a single year. Does he have the career of Breese, Rogers, either Manning or Big Ben? Not yet, but he's only been in the legue 5 years. And he now has a supporting cast on Offense that will make him into a premier QB. He just doesn't have the drooling announcers saying his name 100 time a game...YET. He already did one thing Marino never did...win in the Super Bowl.
