As of this moment, the Oakland Raiders have five quarterbacks on their roster. Whether this will be the case come September 8th, when they take on the Indianapolis Colts for the season opener, remains to be seen. It's no surprise that the Raiders are doing all they can to improve from what can only be described as a lackluster last few seasons. With a more than successful 2013 draft, the Raiders have now gone out and picked up some great free agents; but what do these acquisitions mean for the team as a whole? With the addition of Penn State alumnus, Matt McGloin, the competition has now become white hot at the signal caller position. Picking up Matt Flynn in a trade from the Seahawks may have looked like a slam dunk for the starting position under center, but now with the addition of McGloin, the job seems ever more questionable.Terrelle Pryor started a number of games late last season, and really began to get comfortable in the system. With so much time since his last snap, it can only be assumed that he has become more and more familiar with the playbook, and that he has a good grasp of the offense that Dennis Allen wants to run. Pryor, under the right tutelage, could be come a dangerous weapon for the Raiders. This being said, Flynn was not brought to Oakland to sit on the bench. Trading future draft picks just to get him, shows a lot about how the Silver and Black view his potential.Drafting Tyler Wilson late in the draft, also speaks volumes about the direction in which Allen and his staff want to take the team. Having a number of capable players ready at the drop of a hat will certainly give those other 10 players on the offensive side of the ball, more confidence and reassurance that the Raiders can and will put up points. So, now all there is to do is to wait and see which one of these athletes emerges victorious from camp and is given the coveted starting job. Any one of these players could be the guy that allen goes with. As of now, you have to think that the job is Matt Flynn's to lose.It really does appear that nobody's job is safe, and that the Raiders are purposely pushing players into fierce competitions for starting roles all over the field. The Raiders also announced that they have signed free agent Punter Chris Kluwe to a contract. The heir apparent to arguable the Raiders best player for the last few seasons in Shane Lechler. When Lechler left, those inside the Raiders camp were buzzing about the chance for his understudy Marquette King to shine. King had an outstanding college career at Fort Valley State, but went undrafted in 2012, until the Raiders calld him up. The Raiders were smart to pick him up. (If you haven't seen this kid punt, then I suggest you Google it) Having him learn from the best in the game certainly prepared him for his turn in the big leagues; it appears that he will have some more waiting to do under the watchful eyes of Kluwe. So the countdown begins, the season opener will definitely be filled with players that most fans haven't heard of, but are excited to see get their chance to put their names in the same books as so many others to wear the Silver and Black.
