Football Extra Points:
Whether you're a coach or a player, you always want to beat your former team. After the 2008 season, the Denver Broncos effectively told Mike Shanahan that he wasn't good enough and fired him. He compiled a 146-91 record and led the franchise to their only two Super Bowl victories, so getting the boot had to be brutal. Five years later, Shanahan finally gets his return trip to Mile High.
Wanting to beat your old team is one thing. Having the team that can get the job done is another. Shanahan's Redskins are 2-4 and are coming off a wild win over the Chicago Bears.
The offense won't be the issue going into this Sunday's game. Robert Griffin III finally looked his 2012 self in the shootout last week, Washington pounded the rock to the tune of 209 yards, and Jordan Reed looks like a real player at the tight end spot. Expect the offense to keep rolling against a bad Denver defense.
The problem for Shanny's group has been and will be defense...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Broncos come into this weeks game leading the NFL both in yards gained (469.3) and points scored (42.6) per game. Two of Denver’s receivers rank among the top five in the league in receiving yardage while another two are tied for first in the NFL for touchdown catches. Only once this season have the […]
According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, the Broncos plan on deactivating running back Ronnie Hillman due to fumbling problems.
C.J. Anderson will suit up in Hillman’s place.
Hillman had a big fumble against the Colts this past Sunday night on a drive that would have helped them take the lead and possibly win the game late in the fourth quarter.

The Denver Broncos are going to deactivate running back Ronnie Hillman for week 8 against the visiting Washington Redskins. The ball security issues that have plagued Hillman finally caught up to him in week 7 when his fourth quarter fumble against the Colts stopped all the momentum and cost them any chance of making the comeback. While it was the first fumble Hillman lost this season...
Peyton Manning returned to practice Thursday after the Denver Broncos held him out a day earlier because of a minor ankle injury.
Joining Manning on the practice field was right tackle Orlando Franklin, who missed last week's game with a sprained left ankle.
Manning would certainly welcome the return of Franklin to the lineup against Washington on Sunday.
He was knocked down...
(note: this article began following closely after the Colts/Broncos game, and was updated as news came in)I usually try not to label too many players as “dirty.” To me, that label is reserved for those who make blatant attempts to hurt another player. Then we have Kevin Vickerson of the Denver Broncos. In this video, watch what Vickerson does to Sampson Satele. Yes football fans...
It’s been a season rattled with injury for Denver Broncos defensive back Champ Bailey, one that he had hoped to put behind him when he made his season debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.
All went splendidly, though Bailey was quickly forced out of next weeks action against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, though hopes to return in Week 10.
Champ Bailey called the...
For the past two weeks, things between Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay and Denver Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning, have been awkward.
Many thought things were finally calmed down after the two teams met on Sunday Night Football, which ended with the Colts giving the Broncos their first loss of the season. However, it looks like there’s a new chapter in this crazy feud in...

Mike Shanahan deserves some Rocky Mountain Thunder.
When he leads the Washington Redskins into Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sunday Broncos fans should stand and cheer — long and loud.
Shanahan wasn't perfect during his Denver tenure but he was a great coach — a championship coach — and he deserves some hometown love.
In our instant-gratification what-have-you...
The Denver Broncos are back home this week and the Know It All Football writers are back after a week off for another edition of “NFL Pick Six.”
Heading into the meat of Week 8, college football guru Ryan Osbahr is dropping his NFL knowledge on the rest of the writers with an 18-6 record this season. Dane Marvin is right behind him at 14-10 while Michael Augustine and J.P. Scott...
The Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos will match-up on Sunday.
While the Redskins improved to 2-4 last week the Broncos suffered their first loss of the season and enter Sunday’s game at 6-1.
Coverage of the game between the Redskins and Broncos will air on FOX beginning at 4:25 pm ET from Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, CO.
Washington Redskins (2-4) at Denver Broncos (6-1)
The Broncos lost their first game of the season in Indianapolis last week. The good news is they return home here to play the Washington Redskins in a game in which they should win. The question is, by how much will they win? Fortunately for them, they have a bye coming up so they can be totally focused here as 12.5 point favorites...
The task of shutting down Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos’ league-leading offense basically represents “Mission Impossible” on a regular week for most NFL teams. But the job got even more daunting for the Washington Redskins this week following the suspension of safety Brandon Meriweather and Reed Doughty’s concussion.
The status of Doughty who has started the past...
Jim Irsay is one of the most enigmatic owners in sports. He’s given to seemingly altered state ramblings on twitter, bizarre classic rock quotefests, and of late, the behavior of a jilted, jealous lover. In the leadup to the Colts-Broncos…Read more →
