I'd like to list a bunch of reasons here why you should watch the NFL game instead of the World Series on Monday night, but the Jaguars are involved, the Series is 2-2 and that makes it a tough sell. Blaine Gabbert, yay?
Would it help if I promised updates from the baseball game, too? We can incorporate those. Maybe we'll even throw in some Pan-Am games, or Monday Night Raw. Or maybe this will turn out to be an entertaining and legendary game. I'm going to find a way to squeeze some entertaining out of Joe Flacco and Blaine Gabbert if it kills me.
We'll be here throughout the game with running commentary, observations, insights, polls, blatant lies and a high level of interactivity with you, our beloved reader.
We'll get it started a few minutes before kickoff. Ed Reed's beard will be there. Will you?
BEST OF MAXIM
12:00 AM: As I write this, Blaine Gabbert is sitting on a 12-7 lead for the win. Victory formation is a beautiful set. The Jaguars will play the Texans next week in another make or break game. Jaguars win 12-7. Goodnight everyone!
11:11 PM: The Jaguars have pushed their advantage to 9-0. The big play of the 3rd quarter was a missed field goal by the Ravens. Really, the kick was...
Wow. Unfortunately this was the best fan sign I could find that came from the improbable Jaguars win over the Ravens last night. And should we all be welcoming Mr. Blaine Gabbert into the league? People are already buzzing about which victory was more impressive: Gabbert’s or Tebow’s?
Call me crazy but I don’t see this game as much more than the Ravens beating themselves...
They say defense wins championshipsin the NFL.
And though the Jacksonville Jaguars aren't likely to compete for a title anytime soon, their defense played like a group that could on Monday night, leading the way during a stunning 12-7 win over the heavily favored BaltimoreRavens.
The improbable victory snapped a five-game losing streak for the Jaguars, whohadn't won since...
That was one ugly half of football. It ended with the Jacksonville Jaguars leading the Baltimore Ravens 6-0.
Ray Rice has a fumble. Maurice Jones-Drew has two fumbles and the Ravens have sacked Blaine Gabbert four times.
The problem is the Ravens have zero first downs. Zero. They haven't been able to move the ball against the Jacksonville defense. Baltimore's defense...
Wow, I can’t say that any of us saw this coming. Jacksonville gets their second win of the year and hands Baltimore their second loss of the season with a 12-7 win. Offensively this game was far from clinical, but both defenses showed up huge tonight.
Jacksonville did exactly what they needed to do to get the upset against the team that many feel is the best in the AFC. The Jacksonville...
If the loss in Tennessee was a letdown, this one was a meltdown. The Ravens couldn’t move the ball for the first 55 minutes. The defense played well, but helped the Jaguars put points on the board with key penalties. And it was Joe Flacco, not Jaguars rookie Blaine Gabbert, who made the final fatal mistake in crunch time.
The Jaguars decided to run the ball and play defense last night. They did both of those things well, setting up kicker Josh Scobee to be the star of the game. He accounted for all 12 points last night as he nailed four field goals including three that were over 50 yards! Blaine Gabbert looked like the rookie he is last night as he completed 9 of 20 passes for 93 yards without...
