As we mentioned earlier tonight, the Washington Redskins may end up not firing head coach Mike Shanahan.
Now we know why.
According to Mark Maske of The Washington Post, Redskins owner Dan Snyder is currently unwilling to pay the $13 million buyout that it would cost the team to fire Shanahan and his staff.
Snyder and Shanahan have been playing a high-stakes game of chicken, with many speculating that Shanahan is trying to get fired so he can collect the remainder of his salary and move on. The Washington Redskins are a franchise in need of a complete overhaul. Their current roster is lacking talent, and recent reports indicate that favoritism shown by ownership has pushed the coaching staff to the door. Considering the team’s miserable 2013 campaign, it’s likely that owner Daniel Snyder will hold the door as he ushers yet another coaching staff out. With so many...

With one year and $7 million remaining on his contract, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan will not resign from his job and actually would like to return to Washington next season as long as he can run the organization the way he wants, according to multiple sources.
And despite speculation that the Redskins would fire Shanahan for cause, there is "no chance" that will happen...

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III put on a brave face during Wednesday's press conference announcing his benching, but it's now clear that he's more than just confused by coach Mike Shanahan's decision to pull the plug on his season.
Appearing on Thursday's edition of "NFL Total Access Kickoff," NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported...
Steve Spurrier is basically the Godfather of coach trolling. Steve might be towards the end of his coaching career but he hasn’t lost his fastball when it comes to getting the jabs in when he wants to. Here are his thoughts on the 4-8 Florida Gators being at home for the bowl season:
Spurrier: "Somebody told me the Gators are staying home for the holidays, maybe we can get...
