While appearing at a private screening for the upcoming motion picture Battleship on Tuesday night aboard the USS Intrepid in Manhattan, New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck was hammered with questions about friend and teammate Osi Umenyiora. And while Tuck acknowledges that Umenyiora showing up for mini-camp and Organized Team Activities (OTA's) is unlikely, he doesn't feel the ongoing contract dispute will be a distraction to the team.

“It ain’t that we don’t care,” Tuck said. “We just understand it’s a part of the game. And why make it bigger than what it is? You can add fuel to a fire and make it huge. Right now it’s just smoke. You don’t even see the flames yet. So we’d like to keep it that way.”

There had been some flames between Umenyiora and General Manager Jerry Reese shortly after the 2012 NFL Draft when the Chief accused Reese of making him look like a "greedy pig", but they've since been smoldered and all is currently quiet. Which is not to say Osi has been quiet -because his Twitter account is lively and hilarious- just that he hasn't mentioned his contract publicly since then, as promised.

In addition to the Umenyiora situation, Tuck was also asked about the released photos of the Super Bowl XLVI Championship ring. Once again, he denied that those are the rings Big Blue will be receiving on Wednesday night, but none of the reporters in attendance, including those from Giants 101, could tell if he was being serious.

“I’ve seen that before,” Tuck said. “[The real ring] doesn’t look like that, actually. You want to know why? Because y’all got the wrong picture. I told y’all it was the wrong picture last time, and you thought I lied when I said that. That’s not our ring.”

Tuck also claimed he was unaware the team would be receiving their rings on Wednesday night during a ceremony at Tiffany's, so his denial should be taken with a grain of salt. In all likelihood, his denial is damage control for a twice leaked picture of their new "bling." We'll find out for sure on Wednesday night.

Finally, the Pro Bowler added one last thing: "Go Rangers!"
