Steve Tisch says he feels “anxious” over the Victor Cruz contract situation, while John Mara says he expects another team to try to sign the young wide receiver. And despite both owners claiming they’ll do what they can to reach a long-term deal with the New Jersey native, neither appears overly confident that a conclusion is near. That line of thinking does not apply to New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin however, who told NFL Network’s Kim Jones that he feels “very optimistic” a deal will get done.
This isn’t the first time Coughlin has expressed optimism when asked about Cruz, and he remains the only person involved who hasn’t wavered from the start. From day one Coughlin felt the situation would work itself out, and although we’re no closer to a deal than we were six months ago, the coach believes Cruz will, rightfully, remain in blue.

Quarterback Eli Manning says he'll consider reworking his contract if it would help keep leading receiver Victor Cruz on the New York Giants.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP indicated the Giants haven't asked him to redo his contract to open cap space. Manning, who spoke at a sponsor event in New York on Wednesday, says he'll consider anything that helps the team.
