RB Shonn Greene Shonn Greene is an interesting case. He’s not a particularly talented back, but he’s shown he’s capable of carrying a load and moving the chains and the Jets are really thin at running back behind him. They are their best when they are run heavy and unless another one of their backs steps up this season, the Jets might not see the franchise tag value for running backs (7.7 million in 2012) as too much to pay for a workhorse chain moving back like Greene. Likelihood: Somewhat unlikely TE Dustin Keller Dustin Keller broke out in 2011 and the led team with a career high 65 catches for 815 yards and 5 touchdowns. They haven’t given him a long term deal yet because they want him to prove it again, but if he does, I see no reason why they wouldn’t franchise tag him, unless they can reach a long term deal ahead of free agency. On a poor receiving corps, Keller is their only reliable receiver and the 2012 franchise tag value for tight ends was just 5.4 million, the lowest of...

New York Jets: What Does Mark Sanchez Need To Do In Pre-Season?

Let me preface this article by saying there is no quarterback controversy for the New York Jets. This isn’t an article meant to argue what Mark Sanchez needs to do to hold off Tim Tebow from being the starting quarterback because barring injury, Sanchez will be under center week 1 versus Buffalo. This is an article looking at what constitues a productive pre-season for Sanchez...

Jets v. Bengals Preseason Preview

The Jets finally get to mix it up with players other than their own tomorrow night in Cincinnati.  Seeing the Bengals should bring positive memories, as the Jets posted back-to-back wins at the end of the 2009 season that allowed a run to the AFC Championship game.  The Jets also won their last regular season meeting against the Bengals in 2010, 26-10.But after a disappointing...

New York Jets: Offensive Depth Still Area Of Concern

There is a fine line between having confidence in your young players and being ignorant about the depth on your roster. The New York Jets are walking that line right now. A suggestion for the addition of a veteran running back or wide receiver isn’t a questioning of the future potential of the youth at those positions but a call for needed insurance, in case of injury or a lack...

Jets rookie Antonio Allen gets ‘B+’ rookie hazing haircut (Picture)

‘Tis the season for rookie hazing, and that means lots of bad haircuts have been circulating around the NFL and will continue to do so until the start of the regular season. Horrendous haircuts seem to be one of favorite pastimes of veterans during training camp, and the buzz job Jets rookie Antonio Allen received this week was a hilarious reminder of that. As you can see, the...

New York Jets: An Examination Of Aaron Maybin’s “Ego”

In an article published to, columnist Tim Graham observed recent comments made by New York Jets OLB Aaron Maybin. Graham, like many fans and analysts out there, has taken a very negative view of what Maybin has said, declaring him as egotistical and “delusional.” However, when looking at Maybin’s thoughts and comments, with bias aside, there is certainly another...

The Quiet New York Giants

“TEBOW! TEBOW! TEBOW!” Wait – that is not how I wanted to start this article. I am hearing so much Tebow that I can’t even write straight anymore. Let me tell you a little about my morning routine. I wake up at 5:45am every morning. I roll out of bed. Stumble to the kitchen. Pour me a nice, tall glass of orange juice – ok not that tall. Sit on my couch and turn on Mike...
