One would have to assume that at this point New England Patriots backup quarterback Ryan Mallett is off the trade block. There had been some speculation that the Patriots might be willing to trade Mallett given the new deal that Tom Brady received along with the release of former Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel by the Kansas City Chiefs. Cassel signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Friday and he is now off the market. The speculation surrounded the Patriots re-signing Cassel and then moving Mallett for an additional pick next month. The trade of Mallett might have made sense had the Patriots secured a deal with Cassel. The Patriots, a team that loves to stockpile draft picks, is very thin with the number of selections in next month’s draft. A trade of Mallett would now leave the Patriots with just Mike Kafka on the roster. Despite not having many draft picks next month, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported overnight that the Patriots have signed Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sande...

Patriots Lock Down Aqib Talib For a Year

After playing 6 games with New England in 2012, the Patriots saw enough in Talib to sign him to a one-year $5 million contract. Talib, 27, was drafted in 2008 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played four seasons with them before being traded to New England late in the 2012 season.  The first time an opposing quarterback threw in his direction, it was a pick six for the Kansas product...

With Talib and Arrington locked up, is the Patriots secondary actually good now?

Well, after a slow start, things have certainly heated up for the New England Patriots in Free Agency, and that continued today after the re-signing of CB Aqib Talib. Why Leon Washington will vastly improve Patriots special teams in 2013

Over the past two seasons, the New England Patriots have been one of the worst teams in football when it comes to kick returns. In 2011, they finished 29 in the NFL and 25 last season. To improve on that for the upcoming season, the team signed former New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks RB/KR Leon Washington to one-year deal on Thursday.
