The Washington Redskins and Robert Griffin III look like they have a bright future ahead of them. In one of the best opening performances by a rookie quarterback, RG3 and the Redskins upset the new Orleans Saints as nine points underdogs.

The upset win in week 1 was one of the more impressive victories and it prompted the online sportsbook oddsmakers to make the Redskins road favorites in week 2.

The opening line for this game posted at SportsBettingOnline has the Redskins listed as 3 point favorites on Sunday. Redskins Overblown Favorites?

This is a perfect example of the public and the odds makers over reacting to the first week of the season.

The Rams played an equally surprising game in week 1 as they played a strong game against the Detroit Lions. The Lions led a last minute comeback to pull out the win, but the Rams showed that they could play great defense against a good offense.

If the Rams could hold Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson down for most of the game, that should be able to match up against the Redskins. The biggest glaring weakness for the Redskins is a porous defense that looked overwhelmed at points. The performance by RG3overshadowed how poorly the defense played.

The Redskins are 1-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 5 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game and a woeful 8-24-3 ATS when playing a team with a losing record. The Rams are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games against a team with a winning road record and the underdog is 8-3 ATS in the last eleven meetings.

Jeff Fisher will have his team ready to play at home and the Rams will upset the Redskins in week 2.

Madden: RG3 is a "Tebow who can pass"

John Madden thinks pretty highly of Robert Griffin III, comparing him favorably to Tim Tebow.

Tight end Chris Cooley is going through a hard time.

Chris Cooley is seemingly a pretty good dude. For a few years there he was the ultimate Redskin that was the unofficial face of a franchise that struggled with quarterback issues, the death of safety Sean Taylor and a revolving door of coaches. Click Here To Read This Story

What Does the Big Win in the Big Easy Mean for the Redskins?

Even though I picked the Saints to win this one I was right about something. I said, unlike many so-called experts, that the Redskins could win this game and if they won the turnover battle they'd win the game. Well guess who won the turnover battle. Here's a hint, it wasn't the Saints. With 3:18 to go in the game the Skins held a 16 point lead over the defending...

NFL upset with RGIII for covering up Nike logo

Either Adidas is paying RGIII handsomely to be their spokesman or he loves Adidas that much and I dont know anyone who would cover up a Nike symbol unless they are getting paid. The NFL however, isnt too happy with RGIII’s stunt. Seen warming up for the game against the Saints, RGIII decided that to make sure Adidas was happy and that no other brand was associated with him...

Let’s Meet Billy Cundiff

Billy Cundiff – AKA the #1 kicker in fantasy football (tied with Kaeding) Although it was week one and over the years I have trained myself not to get excited like a master trains a dog not to pee on the carpet, there was something the Redskins did that I could not help but get jacked up about. It wasn’t RGIII and his QB rating of way better than everyone else. It wasn’t...

Josh Morgan was right about RG3, but real test is last half of season

Everyone gasped a little when Washington Redskins receiver Josh Morgan compared rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III to a near-great and two great veteran quarterbacks. It sounded a little too over-the-top.It is dangerous to draw conclusions from one game, oh but what a game. Morgan was so on the money about Griffin that you can call him prescient — a college word meaning, ...

Pierre Garcon Given WWE Belt as '4th & Pain Champion,' Reveals Favorite Wrestlers Growing Up (Video)

Robert Griffin III stole the headlines following Washington's Week 1 victory over New Orleans, but Pierre Garcon helped the quarterback a great deal. Fortunately, Garcon's solid effort hasn't gone unnoticed. The wide receiver was given the first ever WWE 4th & Pain Championship Belt for helping to lead the Redskins to a win on Sunday. Garcon, who racked up 109 yards...

Alf, RG3 make the moves in Redskins backfield

It isn't easy playing backfield buddy to Robert Griffin III. The ball placed on your numbers for a handoff can suddenly disappear. Take the wrong angle, and suddenly you're playing bumper cars behind the line of scrimmage. The other rookie in the Washington Redskins starting lineup is sixth-round draft pick Alfred Morris, who overcame a misstep or two to have an NFL debut...

Washington Redskins: Week 2 Power Rankings (#16)

Last week: 16 (+0) Record: 1-0 There isn’t much that needs to be said. The Redskins went into New Orleans with a rookie quarterback and beat a Saints team that was undefeated at home last year. The defense is a bit of a concern, but then again, they were playing Drew Brees, and any potential Robert Griffin week to week inconsistencies are also a concern and very possible because...

RG3: 1st rookie QB to win Week 1 player of week

Robert Griffin III is the first rookie quarterback to win an offensive player of the week award after his debut game. The NFL announced Wednesday that Griffin is the NFC offensive player of the week for his performance in the Washington Redskins' 40-32 win over the New Orleans Saints. The No. 2 overall draft pick completed 19 of 26 passes for 320 yards with two touchdowns and...

Redskins Victorious, Deliver Saints 1st Home Loss in Forever

Hail Victory Washington Redskins – 40 New Orleans Saints – 32 HTTR By now I am sure you are aware that the Washington Redskins went marching into Saints territory and did something that no team was able to do last year — win in New Orleans — and did it in a rather strong fashion. The much anticipated debut of Robert Griffin III lived up to everyone in Redskins Nation’s...

RG3 makes history with player of the week honor

One of the more compelling storylines from Week One was the impressive debut of Robert Griffin III. The Heisman Trophy winning quarterback and No. 2 overall pick led the Redskins to a surprising road upset of the favored Saints. In fact, it was more than impressive. It was historic in more than one way. On Wednesday, the NFL announced that Griffin is the NFC offensive player of the...

Mike Shanahan to Redskins, Curb your enthusiasm over Saints win

Mike Shanahan must take his team down a peg or two to prepare the Washington Redskins for the Saint Louis Rams. That's where those underpaid quality control assistants (and future NFL coaches) come in handy. They've charted all the player performances and organized them by down and distance for the coach who can now deliver this message to the team – you weren't that...

RotoWire NFL Five Things

1. Only the Desperate should Invest in Morris as a Starter Redskins running back Alfred Morris seems to be generating as much discussion in the fantasy football world as anyone. As a (for now) starting running back for Mike Shanahan coming off a 28-carry, two-touchdown game in Week 1, it's easy to understand why heads are turning. Morris doesn't have much speed at all...
