The NFL week 3 predictions look difficult with so many teams that have yet to be considered legitimate. It also offers a chance to look at a very popular handicapping angle (more on this later).

After all the Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 on the season, but they have a slew of turnovers and have won both of their games by one point. Unexpectedly the Cardinals are 2-0, but are they legitimate?

The wins are arguably more impressive by the Cardinals as they beat the Seahawks, who beat the Dallas Cowboys, and the New England Patriots in Foxboro. What makes the wins by the Cardinals even more impressive is that they have won these games with two different quarterbacks. However heading into this game they are still underdogs against the Eagles.

Eagles vs Cardinals

The NFL betting trends in the Bookie Blitz matchup section also show an edge in this game for the Cardinals. The Eagles are 3-8 against the spread (ATS) in their last 11 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss against the spread.

The Cardinals are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 against the NFC, and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Cardinals return home brimming with confidence after the big win over the Patriots, which lead us to the handicapping angle in this game.

Bet on a Team at home as an underdog after an outright win on the road as an underdog. The theory is simple. The Cardinals won a game they were not supposed to when the traveled to Foxboro to play the Patriots and that win will make a team believe that they should win when they are underdog and they are now in the friendly confines of their home park.

The Cardinals also have a ferocious defensive front that pressured Tom Brady all day long. Similar pressure on Michael Vick and the Eagles will lead to turnovers.

On offense the team believes in Kevin Kolb and John Skelton. The team has a solid corps of talented players in the skill positions and can match up with the Eagles. The Cardinals will give it their all this weekend and could very well win again.

The turnovers catch up with the Eagles and they lose in the desert.

Philadelphia vs Arizona prediction: Cardinals +4

Arizona Cardinals: Week 3 NFL Power Rankings (#23)

Last week: 23 (+7) Record: 2-0 The Cardinals are one of only 6 undefeated teams left in the NFL, but they’re by far the weakest of the bunch. They’ve been outgained in each of their first 2 games, but won anyway, and have a negative yards per play differential and are tied with Jacksonville for the worst yards per play rate at 4.2. They’ve got a nice defense, but I still don’t...

Eagles giving Kevin Kolb and the Cardinals a big opportunity

Playing a former team always gives players an extra bit of motivation in the week leading up to gameday. Playing a former team that also bailed on you as a player gives you even more of a kick in the rear. This weekend, the Arizona Cardinals are matched up against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kevin Kolb's former team. Life hasn't exactly been easy for Kolb since being...

Emphasis on special teams pays off for Cardinals

Since 2008, the Cardinals have blocked 15 kicks, more than any other team in the NFL. They've blocked so many, in fact, that they almost expect to make a big play every game. "It's a little bit like blood in the water for sharks," kicker Jay Feely said. "You get a little taste and you want more." There are a handful of reasons for the Cardinals success...

Leach: Youth a factor with inconsistency

WASHINGTON STATE COACH Mike Leach generally has an interesting way of stating his thoughts. Sometimes that requires clarification. Leach was asked about his “tent over circus” statement, his thoughts on the development of a defensive lineman and, of course, the Pac-12 story of the week – injuries – during Tuesday’s Pac-12 coaches conference call.

(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By ROB MAADDI AP Pro Football Writer Kevin Kolb waited three years to replace Donovan McNabb as the starting quarterback for the Eagles only to keep the job just one half. Eagles Defense Has One Task in Week 3: Stop Larry Fitzgerald

Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images Attention Juan Castillo: Whatever you do this week, make sure Larry Fitzgerald's whereabouts are accounted for on every single snap he's on the field.  And make sure you relay this to Nnamdi, DRC, Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman as well. In case you didn't realize, Larry Fitzgerald absolutely loves playing the Eagles.  We all know he's one...

2-0? Yes, 2-0. On to Arizona.

We are witnessing the first 2-0 start since 2004, two outstanding defensive displays, and the ablility to win games late. Except for turnovers and penalties, our Philadelphia Eagles gave us reasons for optimism against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. We saw big time use of the tight end Brent Celek, a balanced run and passing attack, sharp passing by Michael Vick, and solid...
