TEAMS: New York Jets

When a student becomes smarter than the teacher, surely there is a twinge of envy; something that screams, “Hey, wait, look at me!”

With New Jersey and New York hosting the 48th Super Bowl in 2014 and with businesses preparing for the influx of football fans, New York City has to be feeling like that teacher. The attractions of New York City are well documented; Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, and the list continues.

But there’s one simple fact even New Yorkers can’t deny, the Super Bowl is being played over the river in New Jersey, that pesky sibling nearly everyone thinks of as the runt. Except it never was the runt. Big Blue has been calling New Jersey home since 1976 and Gang Green’s been here since 1984.

New York Jets 2012 Roster Analysis – Defense

Yesterday I analyzed and predicted the opening day roster for the offense now today I will tackle the defense.  The name of the game this offseason was team speed with returning players asked to shed weight and new additions focused on improving that element to a defense that was a step slow a year ago specifically when covering slot receivers, running backs and tight ends in space...

Mild Tebowmania as Jets open camp

Fans chanting his name and carrying banners proclaiming his greatness - or otherwise - will have to wait a couple of days. As the New York Jets reported to training camp Thursday, Tim Tebow simply was another player. Well, almost. Tebow had to chuckle when asked about the legions of media that follow his every move, even when nothing more is required of him or his teammates than...

Darrelle Revis’ days with the Jets could be numbered

Getty Images According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, the relationship between the New York Jets and the agents for cornerback Darrelle Revis is in bad shape and there’s a chance that he won’t re-sign with them when he becomes a free agent in 2013. “This tempest figures to nix any chance of Revis being a “Jet for life,” as he tweeted in mid-July. Sure, Revis has two years...

Jets plan on using Tebow on kickoffs

Getty Images According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News via BlackSportsOnline.com, Jets special teams coach Ben Kotwica says they may also use Tim Tebow on kickoffs this season. “I think there might be some value there on kickoff returns,” Mehta says Kotwica told him. “It’s something that we’ve talked about. I don’t think there’s any option with Tim that...

Rex, Jets eager to get started with Tebow in tow

No more bold Super Bowl predictions. No more empty promises. This is the new toned-down, slimmed-down Rex Ryan. But the New York Jets coach is still plenty confident, and eager to get this season going. Having Tim Tebow in green and white isn't the only reason. ''I think I'm looking forward to it more than any season in my life,'' Ryan said. ''I...

Jets Considering Using Tim Tebow in Kickoff Coverage

I have heard the Jets talk about the wildcat, spread, punt coverage, runner, red zone and now kick coverage for the roles Tebow will play for their team, you know the one role they haven’t discussed? QUARTERBACK Considering he is the back up quarterback, you would think that would be priority #1. Tebow might also be the team’s quarterback in the red zone, which could...

If I Ran The New York Jets

In this article I will be discussing moves I would have made this offseason if I was the owner or GM of the Jets. In the last three years, the Jets have been very successful over all, and I applauded some of the moves they’ve made. Bold moves don't always work out but these are moves that would instantly upgrade the team. The Jets have openly admitted to being in a win-now...

Laron Landry tweets to people reacting to him on the PUP List

The Jets traded for a player today and announced some players making the PUP list, including Laron Landry.  Laron, acquired this off-season and is still nursing an injury, took to twitter to respond to people.   I can only assume based on his tweet that he’s getting some hate tweets:   MrLandry30 To all tweeting bout PUP…keep assuming the worst!!! We have...

New York Jets' LaRon Landry activated off PUP list

First Darrelle Revis showed, then the New York Jets got more good news at training camp today. Safety LaRon Landry has been activated off the PUP list (physically unable to perform) as he recovers from an Achilles tendon injury. The Jets signed LaRon Landry to a one year deal, essentially a chance for him to prove that he's healthy and can still perform at a high level. LaRon...

Westhoff Divulges Details from Leg Injury

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Everyone knows Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff is one tough son of a gun; cancer survivor, specials teams innovator, master talent evaluator, cursing enthusiast. Yesterday at the team's check-in day on the SUNY Cortland campus, however, his tough guy reputation grew a little bigger. For Westhoff, it was his first public appearance with the team since...

Otah fails Jets physical

Jets fans rejoiced when word surfaced that right tackle Jeff Otah was joining Gang Green and possibly replacing Wayne Hunter. Hobbled by chronic knee problems, Otah failed his first physical with team doctors, putting the trade in serious doubt.

Should Revis Hold Out?

With the NFL offseason coming to an end and teams meeting for training camp there would be no better time to talk about Darrelle Revis and a possible hold out. It seems like every year there is a possibility of Revis holding out. If I were the NY Jets organization I would try to get a deal done as soon as possible before there is even a threat of a hold out. The question that many...

Otah Didn’t Make Sense For Packers

The New York Jets acquired offensive tackle Jeff Otah from the Carolina Panthers for a conditional seventh-round pick in next year’s draft. So why didn’t the Packers go after the talented 26-year-old? After all, left tackle is the one position on offense that figures to be a question mark when the regular season begins in [...]
