The Oakland Raiders came through for their fans last night, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-9. How did they manage this win? Who were some key players that showed impressive skill in the game? What does this win forecast about the rest of the Raiders’ season? How did Terrelle Pryor match up against the Jacksonville defense?
For me, the game on Sunday was pretty sloppy. There were few good passing plays, only one touchdown for each team, and 15 penalties. This obviously shows the Raiders need more help with technical plays. However, Charles Woodson of the Raiders had an impressive touchdown-saving tackle that provided a memorable highlight.
Woodson leapt over two players in an attempt to tackle Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew. The crowd went wild after Woodson was able to make the tackle, encouraging the rest of Oakland’s defense to pick up the pace and play increasingly better than previous games. Besides Woodson, Darren McFadden of Oakland also has an excellent game, playing a huge part of the Raiders’ victory. He ran over half of Oakland’s yards rushing in the game. Terrelle Pryor’s game was not nearly as exceptional as last week’s; however, he avoided many of the mistakes that afflicted him in the game against Indianapolis.

What do these improvements have to say about the Raiders? With motivational players such as Woodson and McFadden, who are obviously trying their hardest to put Oakland on the map, they are providing inspiration for the rest of the team.
How so? After Woodson’s tackle of Maurice Jones-Drew, the rest of Oakland’s defense had a strong performance against the Jaguars. And even though Pryor was much less spectacular, he still made the plays that needed to be made and avoided previous mistakes.
How does this show the improvement of the Raiders? A key to winning games is fixing your mistakes and continuing to play better and better, just as the Raiders appear to be doing.
What does this game have to say about the rest of the Raiders’ season? While it’s still very early in the season, I think we can expect great improvement from Oakland. All it takes are a few players willing to put everything on the line to motivate the rest of the team to do the same.
