The Green Bay Packers have added Vince Young to their roster. Young, 30, will serve as a backup behind starter Aaron Rodgers.
While the Packers hope that Young never sees the field during a regular season game, he should be a functional upgrade over Graham Harrell.
Young will bring with him a serviceable arm but his best asset has always been his legs.
Prior to sitting out the 2011 season Young had made 50 starts compiling a 31-19 record and a 46:51 TD-to-INT ratio.
Young rebuffed attempts by Canadian football teams to sign him over the winter and now the 2006 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year will get his second chance at an NFL career.
The signing of Young also will help the Packers as they prepare for the first two games of the regular season. Colin Kaepernick carved them up in the 2012 Playoffs they will see him again in Week 1 and then will get a look at Robert Griffin III in Week 2.

A lot of people feel sympathy for Vince Young, I do not.
The #1 reason Vince Young didn’t have a job until yesterday was because of Vince Young. You can’t blame everyone else for your problems. This had nothing to do with VY’s physical skills, but being a quarterback in the NFL isn’t just about being a good athlete. Maybe he understands that now and will embrace this opportunity...
Vince Young needs a paycheck, and the Green Bay Packers might be a team willing to give it to him. Facing serious financial issues, Young cannot be picky about the team he gets a job with. Nobody is looking for him to compete for playing time, and the Packers certainly won’t be looking at Young as an option to lead their offense with Aaron Rodgers under center. However, the backups...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Vince Young was spotted inside the Green Bay airport Sunday night and, according to reports, will be working out for the Packers on Monday.
The Packers have a Monday mid-afternoon practice, and it remains to be seen if Young will have completed his workout with the team before then or not.

Amazingly, the Sharknado craze has not gone away.
Not only have subsequent airings been more and more popular on
SyFy, but, believe it or not, Sharknado went TO THE THEATERS! I
don’t think I’ve ever seen that happen before, but yes, Sharknado
actually went from made-for-television afterthought to box office
hit. If you weren’t aware, they sold out midnight...
After a Monday workout, Vince Young joins Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman in the battle to be Aaron Rodgers' backup. Barring another roster move, it will be up to Mike McCarthy to juggle playing time and practice reps for four quarterbacks.
Vince Young went 30-17 as the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans
Ted Thompson couldn’t stop gushing over Vince Young in the weeks leading up to the 2006 draft. ”The more I watch him now, the more I realize that I haven’t seen anyone quite like him,” said Green Bay’s normally low-key general manager. “Usually, when you’re scouting a player, you think to yourself...
Vince Young has signed with the Green Bay Packers.
And not just to run the read-option for the scout team.
The former Tennessee Titans No. 3 overall pick has signed a one-year deal to compete as Aaron Rodgers' backup, a source told FOX Sports. The source immediately swatted down speculation Young, who worked out for the team on Monday, was brought in merely to give a running...
The Green Bay Packers have signed free agent Vince Young as a backup quarterback.
The Packers looked at their options after No. 3 quarterback B.J. Coleman threw two interceptions in the team's intrasquad scrimmage Saturday night, and decided to go with Young. The No. 2 quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers is Graham Harrell.
Young was the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft...
Unemployed quarterback Vince Young is working out for the team today. Could there be interest, or is this just kicking the tires? Ted Thompson referenced Michael Jordan when asked about Young before the 2006 draft.
Green Bay Packers left tackle Bryan Bulaga is done for the season after tearing his ACL during Saturday’s team scrimmage, the Packers confirmed Monday. Bulaga moved from right tackle to left tackle just three months ago. The injury was discovered by team physician Patrick McKenzie Sunday, reports the Journal
Of all the transactions Ted Thompson has ever made, the acquisition of free agent quarterback Vince Young ranks as one of the biggest head scratchers.
A six year veteran, Young brings to Green Bay a resume’ consisting of 46 touchdowns, 51 interceptions, completing less than 58% of his passes while compiling a 74.9 passer rating.
The former third pick in the 2006 NFL Draft had...
Yesterday had more downs than ups for fans of the Green Bay Packers. Primarily, receiving the news that starting LT Bryan Bulaga is done for the season with a torn ACL sustained in the Family Night scrimmage on Saturday. What was going to be a challenging experiment -- essentially flipping the offensive lineman from one side to the other -- became even more so with the loss of Bulaga...
Chang was sick and Rob had the squirts, so we’re a day late (sorry), but here to give our take on the latest from Packers training camp. In this episode we discuss Mason Crosby, Vince Young, Bryan Bulaga’s injury, ask “Is the sky falling?” and get a first hand account of Family Night from Colleen.”

So Aaron Rodgers loses his starting left tackle for the year, and now Adam Schefter is reporting that the Packers will be without Jordy Nelson for what could be up to the first 4 weeks of the season (they have a bye week 4, and would likely rest him), all because the Packers tried to soothe a nerve issue in Jordy’s knee. Damn.
Rodgers is pretty resilient when it comes to losing...
