Eagles QB Mike Vick(photo credit The Patriot News) We all know the Philadelphia Eagles have struggled the last few seasons. In 2009, the Eagles were not sure who would be their starting quarterback. The Eagles signed Michael Vick in the offseason but named Kevin Kolb their starter. Then in the 2010 season, the Eagles were nicknamed the dream team but fell well short of the Super Bowl, losing to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. However, the Eagles showed growth and would promise an outstanding team the next year. But in 2011, it happened. The offensive line didn’t stand up and since Vick was trying to be more of a pocket quarterback, he would be thrown around and sacked a lot. In 2012 it was worse, the offensive line allowed Vick to suffer concussions and the banged-up QB even had to sport an eye patch. I’ve never heard of a player having to wear an eye patch, let alone a quarterback who is supposed to be protected. And someone had to go down for these major problems that worsened with time. It was either the quarterback, Michael Vick, or head coach, Andy Reid. Currently, Reid is rebuilding the Chiefs, so we know how that situation went. The Philadelphia Eagles were given a new life by former Oregon Ducks head coach, Chip Kelly. Oregon’s fast paced offensive schemes match perfectly with the Philadelphia Eagles’ talented offense. The Washington Redskins game unveiled what football fans have been waiting to see since word got around that Kelly was going to be the new head coach. The Eagles were elusive and unstoppable. They were a force to be reckoned with and it seems that this force is an overwhelming one that will be extremely hard for defensive coordinators to stop. For those who will play Michael Vick and the Eagles this season, the week before the game will be a long one. As a matter of fact, Vick said it best about the Philadelphia Eagles’  up coming season. “This is going to be a long season.”
