Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl LT Jason Peters had successful surgery for his ruptured right Achilles tendon on Tuesday. Even before the procedure was performed, speculation about a possible timeline for Peters’ return was rampant. Now that the surgery has taken place, there can begin to be some indication of how Peters’ timeframe for recovery. But we know he’s not going to be back for a while.
The instant that Peters’ injury was announced, we knew the Eagles had to do something to attempt to replace him. They signed King Dunlap to a one-year deal. A good move, but not the answer.
While the Birds will likely look to add some depth to the offensive line during the draft, a rookie wasn’t a desirable option. Changing the level of protection for Mike Vick against some of the best d-linemen in in the league from a 5-time Pro Bowl tackle to a rookie? Yeah, not the best idea if it can be avoided.
Philadelphia acted quickly to explore the free agent tackles in free agency, hosting Demetres...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: North Carolina Defensive End Quinton Coples
Two years ago, the Eagles drafted Brandon Graham and hoped he could be a forceful pass rusher opposite Trent Cole. Graham is yet to live up to expectations, so the Eagles may try to find a young stud again this year. One option they may explore is North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples.
At 6-6 and 285 pounds, Coples doesn’t exactly fit the bill of pass rushers the Eagles...
2012 NFL Regular Season Schedule Leaked Prematurely?
In perusing this crazy thing we call the Internet this morning, I came across this interesting tidbit from a blogger named “Eagles Stats“. Apparently, either he has top secret access to NFL information, or he was just bored and decided to put together a full make-believe 2012 NFL regular season schedule.
This posting of the schedule is the first and only post by this blogger...
Philadelphia Eagles: offseason news and notes (part two)
The Eagles front office has been busy lately. The Draft is quickly approaching and free agency is in full swing. It’s hard to believe that in just three and a half months the Eagles will be walking onto the practice field at Lehigh University. To put that in perspective, three and a half months ago we were all opening presents and singing carols around the Christmas tree.
There...

Four season and 23 interceptions later, the Philadelphia Eagles may be parting ways with cornerback Asante Samuel. Rumors and speculation of a possible trade have been going on ever since the Eagles acquired Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie last offseason. Once the Eagles landed the two hot corners, many people thought Asante’s time as an Eagles would be over. A...

Can Michael Vick and the Eagles Offense be Elite in 2012?
Every since Michael Vick had a monstrous year in 2010 earning the AP Comeback player of Year award, there has always been questions if Vick can become a true elite quarterback. He certainly has to tools do it with head coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Morhinweg, who are quarterback geniuses / fanatics.
Last year, when the Eagles where in tough spots, one of the reasons...
Asante Samuel takes to Twitter to convince everyone of how good he is
Don’t ever let Asante Samuel tell you that he doesn’t read what people write about him. Clearly, the Eagles corner reads it all. In fact, he even takes note of the bloggers who give him respect, and he wanted all of us to know it Sunday morning when he took to his Twitter account to blast all the people who doubt him. As evidence to support his argument, Asante linked to a blog...

Eagles 2012 Draft Prospect: Notre Dame Wide Receiver Michael Floyd
Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd had a very productive career in college. He is drawing a lot of interest from teams in the top half of the first round, and the Eagles decided to check him out for themselves last week.
At 6-3, 220 pounds, one of Floyd’s biggest assets is his size. He can be a very physical receiver and has the ability to go up for jump balls and haul them...
Eagles Expect LB DeMeco Ryans To Be An Every-Down Player
The Texans took DeMeco Ryans off the field on third downs last season, but the Eagles see their new middle linebacker as a three down player. In fact, coach Andy Reid tells me Ryans has a pretty good feel for nickel play, as well as the smarts, intangibles and leadership for the position. And the Eagles are covered in case Ryans struggles. If need be, the team can use Casey Matthews...

Where do Eagles rank in 2-Minute Drill?...
It's not a real popular subject, because a "two minute drill" implies the Eagles are behind at the end of a game...I bring this up not so much because of a need to change the pace of the hideous media spin on the NFL right now because of the Greg Williams bounty tapes, but rather to highlight how close we are to the OTA's of a new season...The OTA's will be...
